NY Med

Great show, like how the camera also follows residents around and how they deal with sleeping in the hospital. I like the fact that there are also some funny moments and conversations. Keeps a balance between intense situations and then some humor on the side.

I am enjoying it. Anyone else?

I find Boston Med and Hopkins to be better, but I am still liking NY Med. Except when they keep showing Dr. Oz. He's a great surgeon, but it is annoying when they follow him around doing non-surgical things or soaking up fame for his show. The openers in Boston Med and Hopkins were, in my opinion, better than the NY Med opener.

Haven't kept up with it but really liked when they talked to the female EM doctor who struck a balance between a male oriented environment and her gender. She seemed happy with her husband 😀

Blame it on the a-a-a-autocorrect.

I don't remember a female EM doc from NY MED but I do from Boston MED. Maybe you are referring to the gen surg resident -- she was dealing with lots of trauma.

Ahh maybe that was her. Whoops haha.

I watched it for the first time yesterday and it was pretty good. But, I still like Untold Stories of the ER better 😛

The series is on ABC and produced by Terence Wrong. He has done other medical documentaries like Hopkins and Boston Med. Basically, he gets an all access pass to film real stuff in the hospital.

Here is the shows website. http://nymedshow.com

This is a great show, even for people who might not be interested in urban medicine. NY Med is a show that centres around the health care professionals (surgeons, doctors, ER nurses, etc.) who provide care at NY Presbyterian/Columbia campus, an inner-city hospital that serves the large metropolitan NY area. And what comes with that territory, is an focus on diseases that people commonly hear about (i.e. complications stemming from heart disease/diabetes/tumours) as well as a few unusual medical cases. Each episode is structured around some case studies of patients, trauma patients and also non-emergency cases. The show is very entertaining as the cast go about their day-to-day with refreshing honesty and humour. Definitely one of the finer reality TV shows, in my opinion.

Its basically a medical "reality" show. They follow around healthcare providers with cameras to give viewers an inside look into their day-to-day life. Its overly dramatic at times. Its filmed to appeal to the masses so its heavy on the drama and you really wont get much out of it if you actually wanted to observe working lives of real physicians. There is an inherent bias as only physicians who clamored for attention and wanted to be in the lime light ended up signing up to be part of this pseudo-documentary and the attitude of these physicians is reflected in their tv interviews/commentary and their dialogues with other personnel on camera. Save your time and watch white collar 🙂

ok so i got curious and watched the first episode and i only have one comment... man those nurses are hot !!! 😱😱

I've only watched 2 eps so far, but I prefer Boston Med. That one focused more on the lives of the doctors. There are already tons of shows out there that show cases; I want to see more of the other side.
