regarding the pharmacist job situation in NYC, at the 3/15/09 1199 ce meeting titled "Legal Issues and the Future Role of Pharmacy Technicians", Lawrence Mokhiber (executive secretary of the state Board of Pharmacy)
and PSSNY official mention NYC's pretty much saturated and that remaining demand are really upstate New York (naming Albany as an example)

. . . somebody should post this on the Touro forums. They reap what they sow. I hope they open this school asap.

Urban saturation looks to be a certain future for our profession. It doesn't mean we won't be able to find jobs - it means its going to take longer for that perfect job to come around.
I still think it really depends on a person's ability/willingness to move around. I suppose that would fall under waiting for the perfect job to come around.

people keep throwing around the term "saturation" what does that really mean anyway?? There are enough pharmacists to fill all the available jobs? In that case, all you have to do is be one of those pharmacists. It doesnt mean there will never again be jobs created or offered. I agree getting a job in the majority of urban centers is not going to be as easy as it once was. But if i recall correctly there are still plenty of open jobs in new york city, at least, thats what Aznfarmerboi was saying in november.

The issue is not about saturation anymore. Urban saturation is here to stay. The issue is if a city is saturated with 2 pharmacy schools, what would 4 pharmacy schools producing twice the kids do to the profession?
