NY Times: Too few doctors in many us communities

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
"We have a shortage of every kind of doctor, except for plastic surgeons and dermatologists," said Dr. G. Richard Olds, the dean of the new medical school at the University of California, Riverside, founded in part to address the region's doctor shortage. "We'll have a 5,000-physician shortage in 10 years, no matter what anybody does."
LOL, Dr. Olds was my first M3 attending on medicine before he left to found UCR.

Ironically though, I disagree with him about the dermatologists. You ever try to get in to see one? You can end up waiting 6 months. He's implying that we have too many specialists though and not enough primary care physicians, which I wouldn't argue.

Interesting. My Derm is a USNWR best doc and I've had to wait at most two weeks to see him...
