Ok, my friend and I are making a five day trip of my UMDNJ/NYU interviews (NJ interview on a Friday, NYU interview the following Monday). We'll be staying with a friend of hers in Brooklyn, but I'm actually an NYC virgin. Can you savvy peeps help me with directions? How do I get from Brooklyn to the UMDNJ campus in Newark (without a car)? Specifics: 110 Bergen Street, zip= 07101

I think I can figure out how to get to the NYU campus, but any help with the NJ situation would be much appreciated!

Cheers.

hmm. I know you could take a NJ Transit train right into Newark from Penn Station.

Oh yeah, You could jump on the Path also to get to Newark

Not to familar with it, but I'm sure others will be of greater help

I looked up the UMDNJ website and it says one has to take NJ Transit (the train) to the Newark Penn Station (not the NYC Penn Station!!), then catch the #31 or #34 NJ Transit bus to the Newark Campus.

Coming from Brooklyn, one would have to change trains and buses like 4-5 times. OY.. It sounds like a trip that will take at least 3 hours-- Each way! 😛

Personally, I think hiring a cab might be a better idea..

there's actually a UMDNJ shuttle from penn station to the school. check the schedules online, but you can wait for them outside of the front entrance to the station--which is right across from a certain hotel. normally, you would need a school ID to get on, but maybe you can get the school to send you a temp. otherwise, yeah, just take the bus 34 or whatever.

Maybe you can present your interview invitation letter as proof that you are using the shuttle for school purposes instead of school id?? Just a thought.

thanks everyone........
i dunno about all this bus business, i might just end up hiring a cab....
THANKS AGAIN!
