First and foremost, let me express my condolences for not getting into allopathic schools with your above average stats and thank you for your interest in using DO schools as a last chance hail mary attempt at going to medical school this cycle.
Second, the chances are not good. As mentioned, anyone applying this late with "above average stats" is pretty much viewed as an allopathic reject scrambling to get in. It is not impossible, however, to get in at this point. I know someone who applied in February and got in (3 years ago though). If you are lucky enough to get an interview, better be sure you know everything there is to know about DO schools or run the risk of being weeded out as said allopathic reject.
Good luck.
I don't know about that...my AACOMAS was released on 12/17. I'm not sure if that's the date I applied to NYCOM. While I filed primaries at 6 schools I only finished secondaries for three: AZCOM (didn't file my secondary until late January or February and got an interview invite two weeks later) CCOM(Completed 2/14 no news) and received an interview offer from NYCOM on Jan 28th.
Lol it's funny I just now today finally figured out how to check what my GPA is on AACOMAS. My cumulative is only 3.49 and science was only 3.34. So it's possible applying late!
And as for being an allopathic reject: I'd say more like being an enlightened allopathic reject. I spoke with a bunch of DO's and read the DO's by Gevitz.
I told them during my interview at Midwestern that the first time I applied I only applied allopathic b/c of something that was said at the end of the DO's where they cited a study that said only 15% of the population actually fully knows what a DO is..and I was part of that 15%. But now knowing what I know I feel it's a better career option b/c I can not only be a clinician but if I want to break away and focus on wellness and preventative medicine it gives me a better base and therefore it's a better career oppurtunity.
