Hey everyone, I just got an initerview invite to NYCOM and they want me to call and set a date for interview. If I delay the interview till may 2nd, is that too late?
I can set the date for this week, but I figure I would be better prepared for the interview may 2nd. Right now I have other things going on....I am very busy with mcats and finals are ending may 1st. Thanks a lot everyone.

I say take the interview asap. The class for next year is already full from what I heard today actually, so they're just taking a few more people for the summer dropouts. The sooner you go, the more likely you wont be put on a waitlist. There's not much prep needed for the interview, know a bit about osteopathic medicine, why nycom specifically, and why D.O. It's usually pretty laid back.

good luck.

basha,

I second the sentiments of oceandocDO... With respect to applying to school, sooner is almost always better than later... I think you should also find out if/when the adcom meets... If they meet before May 2nd, then you should definitely get there as soon as possible, but if they arent going to make any new decsions until after the 2nd, then waiting until then becomes a more viable option (but not much more viable...)

Actually I would do it asap but Id have just one night to prepare for the interview. I actually have to think back about the parkinsons research I did at NYCOM and how on earth I can use that research to help patients. Thats quite possibly a question they'd ask. Also, I have a feeling they might ask about the stems cell and sars virus, both of which I have very little knowledge about.

The trick to any interview is to learn to say "I am not current on that topic at the moment and wouldn't be able to give an informed answer."

Sometimes, you just AREN'T supposed to know the answer and the interviewer is waiting to see if you acknowledge this or if you try to bluff your way thru an answer.

Don't sweat the small stuff; getting into an earlier interview is more important in my opinion.

Thanks for the suggestion. I could possibly give that reply but from what I've heard, NYCOM interviews are laid back and really don't digress too much from your file and the basic questions relating to why DO and NYCOM. If they do ask about something else, it probably is important and needs an answer. But if they do ask those types, I'll make sure to say that and not try winging it.

hi guys,
i interviewed at NYCOM on the third week of March. If I still haven't heard anything, am I out of luck? They said that we should know the following week, but I still haven't heard anything.
