Hi guys, did you handwrite the NYCOM secondary or type over it? Thanks. Also, would you recommend the morning or afternoon interviews?

mine was neatly printed (handwritten). i was originally scheduled for the morning but had to reschedule for the afternoon due to inclement weather. good luck on your interview!

mine was handwritten. i would recommend the morning session where you go on the tour before the actual interview so that you have more things to discuss during the interview. if you're a worrier, then go to the afternoon session and get the interview out of the way first.

I just wrote it by hand. I don't think it matters as long as you write neatly.
Be careful what you wrote in there 'cause my interviewer look at that paper and start asking specific things from there.
I prefer the afternoon section where the interview is in the end. I got a lot more to talk about after the tour.

i wrote mine by hand as well. if you have the means to type it, i would. it would probably be a good idea to make a copy or two of the application just in case you mess up on it. plan what you're gonna say ahead of time, and then write/type it on the paper when you're definite.

i was placed in the afternoon session, which i didn't mind. it was better that i didn't have to get up super, super early in the morning. but it did stink having to wait to the end of the day to interview. a word of advice is to get there very early if you want to interview first, or get there right on time if you want to interview later. they choose the order of interviews by what time you arrived. good luck

Incidentally, anyone know how long it takes NYCOM to send out decisions?

I typed it up on a totally different sheet of paper. The personal information I filled out by hand, but the part that asks for work experience, volunteer experience, and ec's, I made a table of each one, so that the columns were like Date, Name of Activity, Description... or whatever. I stapled that to their application with my handwritten personal information on it and in the spaces provided for the information I made the table for I wrote "See Attached". Also for the why do you want to go here question, I typed it up on the page with my tables. When the lady interviewing me looked at it she said, "Wow, you are very thorough and organized, everything is very easy to find".

I got in too, so if you want to do it that way, at least you know it worked for one person. 😉

Yes, exactly, my interviewer did this too, just kept pulling things off of the secondary. Good luck.

it took them about 2 and a half weeks to get back to me. but depending on how busy they are, it can take 1 to 3. if you haven't heard in over 3, then you can call.
