Started by rgerwin
im a current 1st year student at nycom... i didnt hear anything from them until end of october last year... and they didnt start interviewing until december.. try to be patient, i know its tough ! .. good luck!
Yeah I got a letter from them that basically said thanks for your application, don't call us we'll call you [if we decide to invite you for an interview].
yup...still waiting
I haven't heard anything either...😕
the 'don't call us...' email is post-secondary?

for the couple of you getting interviews now...what does that secondary application look like?? I was hoping to not write anymore essays....😱
Well I did not see the letter, my dad opened it for me at my permanent address since I am in FL right now due to another interview. From what I know, you receive the secondary ON application day. Its a couple of questions, why do you want to attend NYCOM, and maybe why osteopathic?? I'm not sure tho.

They're not really essays, just listing volunteer/work/research experiences, hobbies, extracurricular activities and they give you 3 lines to discuss your reasons for applying there.
Do we need to send the letter of recs now, or after you get an interview?
you send them once you get the confirmation letter stating that they received the aacomas application.

Oh Hmm. That may be why I didn't get an invite yet. I wasn't able to send in my recommendations because I didn't get the last one until late last week.
Here's to hoping to see that letter soon!

thanks for the info, anyone have the address handy?
I sent them here:
Admissions Office
New York College of Osteopathic Medicine of New York Institute of Technology
Northern Boulevard
Old Westbury, NY 11568-8000
U.S.A.
At least that's what I found on the nycom website and that one letter way back in august 🙂
did they get it?
I'm not sure yet. I sent it out two days ago. I didn't follow up with NYCOM yet because it's still a bit early.
I'm from NY, but didn't get an invite. Although, I did submit my AACOMAS at the end of July, so that might have something to do with it. Or they just don't like me.
Some of the applicants in my interview group last year did not have all of their LORs in at the time of interview. It's best to have everything in before the interview to speed things along. At the interview they will go over your file and tell you if you are missing anything.
I was in the second interview group and we had mostly NY/NJ students but there was also a student from Oklahoma and one from Maine.
NYCOM is usually the last school to start interviewing and they tend to interview well into March or later so be patient especially if NYCOM is your top choice. It seemed like there were only 2-3 weeks of interviews before the end of the year last admission cycle.
There is a NYCOM Open House coming up.

For the NY people who got interview invites...When did you guys send in your LORs? Does NYCOM require the LORs before sending invites? Thanks all!
I sent my LOR in when I got their letter claiming that they got my application from aacomas. That was back in the end of July I think.

The letter for the interview just says that they should recieve your rec letters before your scheduled interview

You need to wait till you get a letter from them saying you can start sending in your LOR.
