NYCPM and Books

Incoming freshman here. Is it necessary to purchase all the books said to be required? Any upperclassmen remember which classes you absolutely need the books for, and in which classes they are scarcely used? I always hated it in undergrad when I'd buy a book and it'd get used a couple times all semester. And then I try to sell it back to the bookstore and they offer $10 for a book you spent $100 on at the same place just 4 months earlier, and then find out later they're re-selling that very same book they bought back from you for $80.

Also, will I need them to study for boards regardless of their use in class?

Probably Biochem and Histo, none for the other four. I wouldn't get books until classes start though, as many upperclassmen give away books and sell books in the first few weeks.
