Hi all ,
I have been fortunate to receive an acceptance at NYIT NY . I liked the school at interview , students match well in both AOA and ACGME.
SO personally I really don’t see any issues with this school, like some other DO schools have .

Can anyone comment ( past or current students) or anyone who has any info - about the negatives of this school that I should consider . I just want to be aware of everything going in.

For example how are the rotation sites , support system from faculty .

And positives / negatives of their PBL curriculum .

THANKS 🙂

Just ask a student there what their remediation policy is if you fail a course. I've heard they kick out students vs other schools, which allow you to repeat the year. Obviously not the situation any student wants to be in but worth knowing about in advance.

I see, do you think the failure rate is higher due to the schools inability to offer support or is it due to the fact that the student population is on average can be considered worse students to then their MD counterparts .

59k first year tuition + COL in NY.... that's my biggest reason for not wanting to go there. Seems like a nice school otherwise.

Proabably some combination of both but being in NY I doubt it's because they lack quality students. I have also heard the remediation policies are not very kind

They are the largest medical school campus in the country with ~320 entering OMS-I students. I think that is INSANE.

I would avoid at all costs. Heard they suck in just about every way imaginable.

Are you getting them mixed up with Touro? Outside of a hardcore admin and rough remediation policy I've actually heard decent things about NYIT

How often do students fail medical school classes? within the US of course.

I guess it depends on the school and the class.... I doubt anyone is failing classes at a top MD school. loll. With that said, at my school seems about 10% (roughly 25 students) will be failing anatomy (which seems to be normal or just higher than average), then it trickles down from there. I heard even in second year about 5 students didn't pass the GI unit, but in second year they're nicer and just let you re-take the exam. In first year you have to wait and repeat next year with the next class.

NYIT has a great rep though! Their match list seems solid. Being in NY is a big plus! (residencies galore).
