I'm from Washington--Seattle Area. I'm having the biggest dilemma about what to bring, especially since I'm flying there.
The Grasslands II rooms have a desk (attached mini-bookshelf), a four drawer drawer, a really uncomfortable bed (you will have back pains by the year's end), a crappy chair, and a spacious closet.
The kitchen has a mircowave, full-size fridge, stove, oven, etc.
The common area has a sofa, a dining table and some chairs... that's all I can remember.
You will need:
1. Lamps. The room has no lighting, but there is a light switch.
2. A wall AC unit. You can pick one up at Sam's Club or Target or somewhere.
3. Trash cans (one for the bathroom as well).
4. Probably a better chair, since the one they give you sucks.
5. A coax cable for cable TV.
6. A phone.
7. A car.
Of course, a computer, TV, DVD Player, X Box, etc. Bring an ethernet cable.
I put another desk into my room. Also bought a nightstand and something to hold my TV, VCR, and DVD player.
It would probably be a good idea to get together and invest in some cleaning supplies, like a vaccuum, mop and such. The cleaning crew doesn't do a good job cleaning the rooms before move-in, plus you'll need this stuff anyways throughout the year.
It's probably not necessary to bring this stuff with you, as there is a Sam's Club nearby, Bed Bath and Beyond closeby, a mall, a Target, supermarket and such within a couple minutes by car. A car is necessary, unfortunately.
