Hi,

I am going to be entering my first year at either NYMC or AECOM. I was accepted at NYMC right away and given a partial scholarship and AECOM recently took me off of their wait-list. I am very interested in Opthalmology and I would appreciate any comments you doctors might have.

Thank You,

From what I've heard, grades and step 1 matter alot more than which medical school you go to. I'm pretty sure each allopathic school usually has several people matching into ophtho yearly. However, I do imagine that if you go to a school with an associated top ophtho program, like Jefferson-Wills, Penn-Scheie, Hopkins-Wilmer, Miami-BascomPalmer, etc. you may have more opportunities to get to know more famous attendings and more chances to do research with them. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think going to NYMC vs AECOM is going to make much of a difference with an otherwise identical application.
