I know everyone gets annoyed with these threads but I could really use some help -

I am choosing between Robert Wood Johnson and New York Medical College and would love to hear some thoughts. I just heard from NYMC yesterday so I am rushed in making a decision before the 15th. They offered me a scholarship so the price would be the same for the two schools so that's not a factors....any thoughts would be very appreciated! Thanks!

Robert Wood Johnson

can i ask why you guys both chose rwj??

RWJMS vs NYMC

both are in the suburbs: Piscataway vs. Valhalla

One is a state school the other has a Catholic tradition (whatever that means in the context of medicine).

Are taxes a concern for you?

If so, then RWJMS would be the better bet of the too.

Besides you would have the university resources of Rutgers if you went to RWJMS and you would not be afforded that opportunity at NYMC.

In the end you could/should be able to qualify for more financial aid for school from RWJMS if you are an NJ resident as well.

robert wood johnson ... because 25 % of the class comes from the ivy league..mcat average approx 31. yadie yada, i know a lot of well educated professors there. most of them are big timers from harvard and the like. I don't know as much about nymc. Academically, i know that robert wood johnson has more accomplished people. New Jersey also gives Robert Wood Johnson a lot of money .. and last but not least (or maybe least importantly) the school is actually ranked higher than nymc if that is a consideration

Actually, NYMC is getting more and more ivy leaguers in their class (I should know, I am one of them). This is just the general trend of medical school competition.

I would agree though that you should choose RWJ because it is likely cheaper and is a great school (and is ranked higher, although match wise you can't go wrong with either).

what does the number of ivy leaguers have to do with the caliber of the school? they obviously weren't the cream of the crop ivy leaguers if they couldn't stay in the ivy league for med school.
