I understand NYMC has a red flag questions, I'm just not sure what to go with on that.
Possibility 1:
I have 1 C and 1 W on my transcript for the second quarter of calculus. I recieved the W in the summer because I took the class but dropped it too late and then got a C, just because I didn't put my full effort into it. However I finished my calculus series strong by getting an A in the 3rd quarter of it.

My other possible red flag is my 8 in verbal. Don't really know how to explain that one because I practiced it often, its just that my score was fluctuating like crazy. On good days I was getting 10's and 11's and than on other days 7s and 8s. Any suggestion on how to explain this or is that sufficient?

Which red flag should I go with.

Also on NYMC interview day, do they give you a tour and presentation before the interview? Because I really don't know WHY I want to go to the school since there is very little information online about specific programs etc..

Everyone gets Cs (i'm guessing you don't have too many of them). Explain the 8 in verbal.

Your explanation for getting that C however isn't that great (actually, it sucks) and really is a red flag. Don't give them reasons to waitlist/reject you!

I'd go with the grades, mostly because you don't have an explanation for the 8 in verbal. Having at least some explanation is better than none.

I think I'll just explain both.

Wish me luck guys! I've got an interview with Albert Einstien on Wednesday, and then NYMC interview on Thursday.

👍

Just interviewed at NYMC today. You get the orientation before the interview, the tour comes after the interview. For the red flags, they said that it is perfectly normal for you to not have any red flags. They are looking for things like misdemeanors or failing a class. The lady specifically said that they laugh at people who say "well, one time I got a B..." as their red flag.

Another quick question.

NYMC says to bring two copies of your AMCAS essays. So do they just mean the Personal Statement or the whol AMCAS primary application? I just printed out my EC's page and personal statement page. Is that sufficient. THanks guys.

It says essay (singular). They just mean your personal statement. And when I got there, they told us we only need 1 of the essays (but bring both just in case). Also, my interviewer already had a copy of the essay anyways.

my interviewer didn't ask for my essays, and he didn't ask me the red flag question. i am probably getting rejected!

UNDER REVIEW at NYMC from Today

How long it took to get interview for those who got it since under review?

They ask you to bring two essays b/c some "random" students get the pleasure of having two interviews. Also, some of the interviewers already got your personal statement before the interview, so don't worry if they didn't ask you for it.

A long time. Don't hold your breath.

Yeah my interviewer (I only had one, like 11 of the 12 people at my interview day) already had a copy of my PS that the admissions office emailed him, so I didn't even need the hard copies I had brought.
