I got the dreaded waitlist letter. I have my heart set on this school, so I am really devastated...

When I attended the interview, I don't think the admissions director mentioned anything about approximate % of acceptance and how many % of waitlisters eventually got in last year. Does anyone know? Are there a lot of movements for the waitlisters???

I am so sad right now... I loved NYMC... What should I do? I feel so helpless.........

I posted my reply to this almost same question yesterday. I think the proper etiquette is to add to your original thread rather than starting a new one. It makes it easier for other people to find all the answers in one place. I'll repeat it here again.

The bad news is that last year only 2 or 3 students came off the list, and they were special cases (whatever that means). It was a horrible wait with a bad ending for me. The good news is that the several years prior to that, 40+ students usually came off the list. I heard from an administrator (not in admissions so take it for what it's worth) that there are about 120 people on the waitlist, so you may have a ~35% chance of getting off. But again, this is numbers from several years ago, and I don't know how reliable the source is, so this year could be completely different.

The stats for interview/acceptance ratio is available on USNews. Perhaps you didn't know how to get to them, so here they are:

Applied Interviewed Accepted Enrolled
Total: 6,462 1,364 639 185
In state: 1,375 361 209 67
Out of state: 5,087 1,003 430 118
Women: 3,007 617 360 94

I don't think anyone publishes the waitlist/acceptance ratio, not even the schools themselves.

I don't know when people get off the list, how often they review it, etc. Hopefully someone else will know. Have you tried calling the school to find out?
