Personally, I can't find a single actual positive aspect about that type of prescribing practice. At the very least, it essentially ok's the abuse of a prescription medication (even if it had been abused for years by high school and college students while pulling off all-nighters), may prevent these children (and their parents) from developing appropriate compensatory strategies on their own, exposes them to the potential side-effects listed in the article, and horribly degrades the legitimacy of ADHD as a diagnosis in the public's eyes.
 
Well, I don't find it surprising. I echo AAs concern about not learning additional strategies - we just end up with students who don't know how to manage time or stay organized, and can't do anything academic without a stimulant.
