Hey folks. Is there any new information about acceptance...?? How many seats are left?? how many are filled?? when are they sending more acceptance???, Because it looks like no one has got an acceptance since a week.. I think most of the anwers can be given by fido.. this information will not only help with people waiting for acceptance but also to those who are waiting for an interview.

Hey Malboro27,

Everything you said is right. Except that even if you apply for a private loan you will still have to apply for fafsa. The private loan is a supplement. Fafsa will never cover the entire cost of the program but you need the government loan b/c the interests are lower and they cover part of the interests for you while in school.
On an other note- Every green card holder should contact selective services for clearance in order to accelerate the process. For more info. visit www.sss.gov. Hope this helps.
 
Are u sure that for private loans( not goverment loans) u still have to fill out a fafsa ?I didnt know that .why do u have to apply for fafsa if u re not getting a goverment loan?.the selective service system is for male ,yes u need a letter from them .
 
hi everyone.lot of discussion is gng on for loans.i want to tell something.citizens and permanent residents should apply for fafsa first. Difference between fafsa and private loan is that there is low interest rate on federal loans.This is also true that fafsa will not cover all of ur fee. After applying fafsa, college will send u a letter that how much money can u borrow with fafsa.For the rest of money one has to apply for private loans then. But noncitizens and non permanent residents can get money only through private loans.I hope this will help .u can also call NYU Financial aid counselor at 212-998-9830 and tell them abt ur status like citizen, permanent resident or any kind of visa...they will give u knowledge of everything.

nd chato1234 they wont consider ur application complete until u give them the degree.. .i faced the same thing last yr... hard luck... but reapply now with degree am sure ull get in next time.. all the best

so if we are just applied fafsa, we need to wait for the letter from NYU, then only we will go on and apply for private loans?

yeah i called financial aid advisor at NYU today and she said that they will send a letter in may.U can also call at NYU and lets see what will they say?? Pls post here also what will they say to u.
 
hey i have que. for persons who have filed fafsa. i want to know what did u fill when apllication has que. regarding ..do u have first bachelor degree.i answered it YES as i am BDS from india.I dont know was i right or not?? coz i dont know whether they consider it bachelor degree or not as in our ece they considered it as high school diploma.By filling YES in fafsa it said i am not eligible for federal pell grant as i already have a bachelor degree.Pls give some information who have filled the fafsa and what their confirmation email said regarding federal pell grant.

When I called the financial aid dept , they told me the same. We have to wait till May to hear from them. I called them today morning.

Hi,
I too did the same thing. I entered "yes" for that Q and I received a confirmation e-mail from fafsa saying I am not eligible for federal pell grant.
I am not sure whether we need to write yes or no for that Q

I applied on Feb 28th and I received the confirmation mail on Feb 29th

Hi addy81,
This is what I heard from finanicial aid deprtment today.
if you are a GC holder or citizen, then you have to wait till May to know how much you will be getting from federal loan.NYU will inform you about this. The rest of the money you can arrange by private loans. So you have time till April end.

thnx adiwana.... well am not a gc holder so i have to start prvt loans stuff... but i am also wondering if the loan agencies will entertain us without the admission packet or not...
 
They said they will send 95% of acceptences by the end of this month(march) but it might go till mid of April,so I think we still have time.Hopes up.

I have got acceptance in another school and have been looking at the options of private loan.Usually you can apply a loan 90 days before the payment is due.The school has to authorize the bank to give you the loan and this is only when the final tuition for the current year is decided. Also you will need your acceptance letter as a proof for the approval of the loan.
However in the meantime you can gather all documents and a cosigner if required.Things might be a little different with Citiassist loan associated with NYU.It would be best if you can call them for details.

If you are a citizen or a green card holder and you have already filled your FAFSA, all you can do is wait until NYUCD send you your financial aid packet which will include:
1- The amount of Federal Stafford loan you are qualified for
2-The maximum amount in private loan the School will allow you to borrow (with tuition, room and board and other expenses all taken care of) but you borrow only what you need.
3-instructions on how to complete the MASTER PROVISORY NOTE (E-MPN). You can familiarize yourself with that by visiting www.hesc.com.
4-For your private loan you will need to contact either www.studentloan.com (citibank) or fannie mae or the institution of your choice after you receive your packet.

The money will be sent to NYU's bursar office and anything left will be refunded to you according to NYU's refund schedule (around Sept-oct). Make sure you have enough money to cover your daily expenses before you receive your refund.

u r right......u will not b eligible for a pell grant!u will b eligible for the stafford..subsidized and unsubsidized!

my stats r nbde 1 87 ,toefl 102, gpa 4

i have one question regarding visa,currently i'm on visit visa......... so wht is the process to get student visa frm nyucd?
plz do let me know abt the whole thing ,

toefl-108.
clinical experience:3 years in home country.
I am an indian.

so, people with scores of 85 to 90 also have a chance..........so, keep trying.🙂

experience in U.S. : none (was going to observe at a clinic)

I think it's my turn to post the acceptance.😀
After one and a half yrs of hard work and restlessness finally got acceptance from nyu today.
Letter is dated march 17th and got it today.
My stats:
Part 1-86
Toefl -100
ece - 3.2
clinical experience- 8 months volunteer in U.S

Congratulations to all those who recieved there acceptance and good luk to those waiting.
Hard work always pays back.Never lose hope
 
Anybody got the information packet after the acceptance letter? I called the admissions office and they said they will send that out in a couple of weeks. I also asked about the start date. Wanted to confirm if its June 2. But the lady said they will let us know. Any news about that?
