Sorry to say but this is a useless poll, go to predents...

And if your trying to confirm the 8000 applicants rumor this will def not help.

It would help if everyone on this site made a d*mn pre-dents profile.

I don't understand why so many people apply here. It's so horrifically expensive. I can see why you would apply here if you had really low stats, but I think most can aim a bit higher (cost effectively that is) for their backup schools.

I imagine a vast amount of the applicants simply check the schools stats, compare them to their own, and say 'hey I can get in here, I'll make it a back up'!! So you are right in that case and this is probably why their numbers are pushing 5,000+. But there are also a large pool of applicants who truly want to attend NYU for its location, facilities, class sizes, and clinicals. I would love to go there for these reasons.. I doubt I am alone. It is ridiculously expensive though.

This is not directly in response to your post, rather my 2 cents.

You mean some people actually do prefer a large class size of 232? I've always preferred a smaller class size myself.

Yea, I mean the 3 or 4 people I spoke to were obviously biased and may have been full of **** b/c they were attending NYU, but they said part of the reason they chose the school was b/c of the large class size. They went to small undergrads and were tired of running into the same people and saying the awkward 'heys' to people 5 times a day...

That's where I pulled the 'people like large class sizes' from

How is it "horrifically" expensive, its 15k more than tufts...and yea some people like bigger class sizes(like myself).

Well you are right it is pretty damn expensive, but my point was its not too far off from tufts and its a great school.

The really expensive portion comes from living in NYC, if you can live in bk (or even jersey if you can swing the commute) that cuts down that extra 25k/year right there. NYU is a great school in a great city; the same people who applied to tufts, bu,and probably columbia, applied to nyu as well.

Living and housing expenses in New York are 29% and 37% more expensive than in Boston, respectively. Personally, I applied to Tufts because my uncle graduated from there. I didn't apply to NYU, because the southern dentists that I know speak negatively of the school, and I'm not quite sure why.

They really do!! I'm from the south and have experienced the same thing. The word traveling down I-77 is that recent graduates do not perform efficiently in practices and their work is sub-par. I personally will make a decision based on my own opinion and research (if I have a decision :scared:) - and that's not a shot at you Ryltar

Times are changing; NYU appears to be a solid school with great statistics.

Uh oh. The poll is at 48 and rising 😱 Only 7,952 short of 8,000!!

I don't really have anything against NYU. It's just that I already applied to 12 schools. Good luck FutureDent. Hopefully you'll get into UNC and it'll be a really easy decision. 🙂

I appreciate it.
