Hey guys, I just took the DAT got a 22AA, but I have a 2.77overall, and a 2.54 Sci, My extracurricular are spectacular. I do research at a Dental School and My letters of rec are strong. But look at my GPA. Should I apply to NYU before the Ma31st deadline or wait till 2006. Is there any schools out there willing to look at a student with a GPA this low and a good DAT score?

Honestly, I think it would be a waste of time and money if you have not applied this cylcle at all. You will have great chance next cycle cuz you will start with everyone else, and your DAT scores are smokin hot 👍 . NYU are slow this year, I have 3.4 GPA and DAT 19/19/16 and I applied back in September, havent heard a word yet 😱
So, its up to you to make the decision, most schools have full classes by now 👎 , you probably already knew that.

Great job w/ your DAT's!! 👍 UOP places greater emphasis on DAT than gpa. Do you have 20's or better for all subjects? (except QR which can be a little lower) You can try applying to NYU this year if you don't mind paying the money with the knowledge that your chances may be slim. It can't hurt and it's worth a shot. But, if I were you, I'd probably just wait b/c your chances will definitely be a lot better next year and you can apply to more schools, which will further increase your chances!

Where do you do research? Maybe you can talk to your p.i. to see if there is anything he/she can help you w/ to gain admissions at the school where you do research. I don't know if that works for d-school, but I know that it happens a lot for ph.d programs.

I think you can apply to NYU now without doing the aadsas application so it wouldnt be that expensive if you wanted to give it a shot. Good luck

HAve you talked to anybody in the admission staff at NYU, I applied at the same time as you and I haven't heard from them either. Whats up with that. Scarry is that were very similar in STATS, 3.3 and 19 DAT.

Hey guys, I just spoke with admissions at NYU and she said that they are swamped with application, and we should be patient. My AADSAS was sent Aug. and arrived in Oct. so I'm in the same boat.....waiting....waiting......ho-hum.....

I was worried because I called them in the begining of December, and they said that I would hear from them in 2 weeks. But now I see many of us in same boat, so I am not so concerned anymore 🙄
Se lets sit tight and wait for them. Especially for those of us who havent been accepted anywhere yet 😡

I heard an admin in the elevator saying that they have almost 3000 applications. That is way beyond the normal 2000 they get.

3000?? wow. does that mean it will be much harder to get an acceptance this year? now i'm quite nervous. i sent them my application fee and photo 3 days ago because i got tired of waiting for them to send me a letter requesting it. looks like they are really backed up. we'll see what happens..
