NYU College of Dentistry Class of 2029 Interview/Acceptance Thread

Do you think everyone who got a candidate day for this last candidate day will get accepted because they are desperate?

I think you are right because I heard that they accept a lot of people but not everyone is gonna go

Did anyone hear back from nyu this week? I know deposits were due March 31st and the next deposit is due April 7th.
 
If you guys on the waitlist want to get accepted, you need to keep sending MEANINGFUL letter of intent's and genuinely update them with what you are doing. NYU is not only about grades, so you need to stay committed and that's when you'll be taken off the waitlist

Hey were you on the waitlist and then got accepted?
 
For people on the waitlist, who want to get in, PM your stats and let me know if you wrote a letter of intent and how often you reach out. I am a graduate and I am connected with admissions committes.
 
Is anyone still under review? Not sure what it means at this point, as it’s late in the cycle. Any insight please?

Im still under review 🙁 Seems like class is still not full though, doesnt seem even close

yes i am on the waitlist i heard that the class is not even close to being full, i also heard that the group me groupchat only has 229 seats filled for now, and a lot of people on the facebook groupchat aren't even incoming d1 students, most of them are d2,d3 or d4 students that are looking for roommates
 
On Reddit, I have seen some people say that some schools may wait till after March and April 15th to revisit the waitlist. I have seen another comment say that they received a email from NYU admissions saying they will only revisit the waitlist until after May.

I am an admitted student and I am not on either Groupme or FB. I am very close to one of the student ambassadors, and this is what she said on 4/7. I hope this helps and don't lose hope yet as there will be more movements

"The class is close to being full, meaning most people who decided to commit paid their deposits at this time. Last week I checked think it was about 350. However, there will be movement on the waitlist until the class starts, as you know, people are going to drop. A few people didn't pay their deposits when the letter was sent out in the middle of March, which is why they decided to hold another Candidate Day to select more qualified applicants instead of people on the waitlist. If someone's GPA is above 3.7/DAT is above 21/you didn't bomb interview/no red flag in the application, that person has a high chance of getting off the waitlist. But I think most people on the waitlist don't have those stats. GPA Stats for class of 2028 significantly increased compared to Class of 2026 (3.7 vs 3.5), which shows that admission is putting more emphasis on the GPA since class of 2028."
 
This year seems to be exceptionally competitive, and so will the following years. Application deadline was back in Feb, wouldn't all qualified candidates already have been invited to interview? It sucks that I chose one of the earliest dates to interview back in Sept to show interest but people are getting accepted when they applied super late with higher stats.

I do not believe there are 350 people already signed up no way, I heard that they are having a hard time getting the class full. Last year all my friend were on the waitlist maybe 10 of them and all of them got in at the end.

I don't want to believe that 350 spots are taken...because historically speaking NYU has always taken the longest to fill up their class due to the sheer amount of people allowed in their class. On top of that, tuition and living expenses is one of the highest in the country hence why people drop left and right from this school once another school takes them off the waitlist.

Exactly, I'm sure the class isn't full yet. They are still giving out candidate day
 
same, It seems like a few people have also left the groupme in the past few days. hoping for good news for us all!
 
I just found the Facebook group for NYU Class of 2029, which has 417 people. I'm just wondering how accurate that number is when it comes to newly admitted students.

Hey that number isn't accurate at all. I am in that group chat as well and I didn't even get accepted yet. And so are my few friends. Did you get accepted yet? And are you in the facebook chat?

No, I am not in that Facebook group or accepted yet! This cycle is strange too, I don't know why but there should be waitlist movement for the past 2 weeks, but the last time there was waitlist movement was March 17th. In the past, waitlist movement occurred every two weeks.

I'm sure there will be a big waitlist movement soon. Did you have your candidate day yet?

I sent my new resume & expressed interest in the email
I also asked the dentist I work w to send a letter of recommendation
 
Many people got off the waitlist yesterday. NYU Dental is the #1 school in the country and is very competitive. Please keep sending LOI and updates if you want to be in this program.

Keep doing it, your time will come. Keep updating them with recommendation letters and make it known that NYU is your first choice and you have the deposit ready!

How many more seats would you say are left? And do a lot of people put in a deposit but don't end up going?

I had virtual meeting with NYU admission and they said they plan to have more candidate days later on. So everyone who did not get an interview yet just dont lose your hope. (Even I am still waiting patiently)

More like I had scheduled for virtual meeting 1 on 1 through zoom. I had the meeting with them on yesterday morning. You can do that through their website. This is more like asking about thier admission and their program. I was glad I was able to direcly ask them about interview invites.

By any chance did they mention how full the class was? thanks!
 
Can anyone give some pointers on how to structure my letter of intent? I was interviewed in January and waitlisted on March 6th. Also, do I update my NYU portal with a misc. update or do I email to them directly?

no they didnt specifically mention about that. but based on what she told me about they are planning to hold more interviews it sounded like they are having hard time to filling up the class
 
It is very important to send multiple letter of intents and call frequently to show interest

This is how I structured my letter of intent!

1: Dear Admissions Committee,
2: Introduction; purpose and excitement
3: Body paragraph; fit and updates
4: Closing paragraph; reaffirmation and gratitude
5: formal closing; "sincerely" "respectfully"
