I have heard NYU's financial aid package isnt so good...can anyone shed more light on it?

I'm a GC holder and will be applying for FAFSA...i know it depends on each case how much financial aid one can get, but do you generally get the full amount of fees in aid/loans?? NYU is a pretty expensive school, but as chances of myself getting into other cheaper and shorter(2yr) schools arent too good, i have to start considering the financial aspect of NYU..
I am also trying to avoid any private loans for obvious reasons...

On another note, has anyone tried commuting to NYU from NJ? I live in NJ about an hour away, is it worth commuting and staying home to save on Living Expenses, considering commuting costs and less time available for part time jobs?
