Just recently got accepted to the NYU Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine
Health Career Opportunity Program for PT this summer. Anyone else accepted/doing it too?
And has anyone ever done it before and if so how was your experience?

I was wondering what your credentials were for acceptance to the PT program. I applied for this upcoming summer with a current cGPA of 3.286 and experience such as working at a chiropractor's office, shadowing PTs, and currently I work as a student athletic trainer for the football team at my school. I did not give any letters of recommendation because I only recently discovered the program and did not have time to secure them beforehand. After thoroughly reading, I really think this program would be an excellent experience for me given what I want to do. Please let me know! Thank you.

I did this program 2 summers ago! It was pretty amazing! As all internships, you get what you put into it so ask questions, connect with whomever you are shadowing, and have fun. It was really relaxed... I would even go out for drinks and watch the World Cup after work! We also got to observe autopsies, births, and daily discussions/lectures by doctors and other professionals. I will be attending Hunter's DPT program his summer, so having experience in NYC really cemented my desire to work/live in the city as a future PT!

P.S. lunch is NOT free!

I find this information interesting and helpful. What were your GPA statistics and extracurricular credentials at the time you were accepted into the program? I applied and want to attend so badly because I think it would be an incredible experience.

I don't remember exactly what they asked for/my credentials at the time but here are some stuff I do remember:

College: UConn (but from NJ right across the GWB so I commuted to the internship in the summer)
Major: Exercise Science
GPA: 3.86
ECs: worked in multiple homeless shelters, cultural clubs, intramural sports, academic societies, etc...

I think the program is like 3 different sessions of 50-60 students so like 150-180 students are accepted (fairly large number). I was notified right before spring break so like in March! Really awesome opportunity if you get accepted!
