Hi all,
this is my second interview and i am very excited. Is anyone else here going on same day? If so them pm me.

I also wanted some quick pointers about the interview process. How many interviews? who conducts them? How long is each? How laid back is it?

Also how was the campus tour? I will be wearing heels -- should i take a change of flats along?

And lastly about what to do. I will be getting to NY around 7:30ish monday evening. Since i have never been there before i am not sure where to go n what to do. My friend will be coming too and she is just as clueless as i am. So any suggestions for something we can do for monday night. places we could see or nice areas to hang out n do dinner -- well anything like santa monica in LA around there? lolz i wouldn't mind shopping.

thx 🙂

Congratulations on NYU interview!
When did you receive the interview invitation e-mail? Please let me know.
Thank you.

I received the invite on wednesday and they had immediate spots open. I think they are conducting interviews everyday of the week except wednesdays.

There were probably 14 people at my interview. The have different people conducting the interviews seemed like mostly teachers though and they are one-on-one. I would say the interview was 20 minutes or so and was very laid back, well depending on who you get that is. I remember some of the students were asked "why dentistry" and were told that there answers weren't good enough...so be ready to answer what ever they throw at you.

For the shoe part, I wore heels and did bring flats for the tour, as you seriously walk up and down 10 flights of stairs (lots of walking). I got there, signed in, filled out some paperwork, went into the board room to wait for my turn to interview (people who get there first interviewed first), then the dean comes and takes questions and gives a spiel about the school, then you go on the tour, and finally eat lunch!

Dont worry about it, be confident. But MAKE SURE your interviewer IS NOT DR. Eugene Hittleman. He is very nasty with questions (he is a psychologist there). good luck

hi all,

thanks for all your advice.
I was very impressed with the school, facilities, patient pool and how much clinical experience the students can get. Didn't meet many faculty members except Dr. Mejia and my interviewer Dr. Sophia Khan.

I had mixed feelings walking out of my interview and didn't feel too confident about how well it went. I answered all questions the best i could but my interviewer was very concerned about my GPA. She probably asked me or conveyed in the interview at 2-3 different times that my gpa doesn't show i am competitive enough for their school. 🙁

Hey don't worry too much - like you i also did not feel confident at all about how my interview went, but i got in on Dec 1 - so go figure hehe. I'm sure you did fine. As long as you show a genuine interest in the school and your passion for dentistry, you should be able to get in 🙂

when i interview there on 16th they said we should hear from them in 1 week - 10 days. i was wondering if anyone has heard anything yet?

Interviewed on 3/8 and got an acceptance through snail mail on 3/18

a friend of mine (interviewed on 3/16) got his acceptance yesterday .... so they are definitely sending out acceptances...

damn i hope not all of them were supposed to arrive yesterday 🙁

i got accepted yesterday, i interviewed March 19. I'm Canadian so it was by UPS, don't lose hope!!!! 🙂

at my interview on the 18th they said that it would be two weeks until anyone found out anything about their status, but then people that interviewed that same week are already hearing back. So I'm confused as to what the situation is and worried about my chances now :-/
