just came back from my interview!
i definitely would not recommend bringing ur own car...
nyc has intolerable amount of traffic.. and u won't find a parking space (without paying tons of money).
i took Bonanza busline from hartford, CT to new york port authority.
it was suppose to be a 3 hr ride but it took 30 mins longer due to traffic, so you should definitely anticipate some lag time.
the interview, itself, was more organized and rather quick.
they gave us a 1hr tour of the school (got to see the facilities like the library, lecture halls, dorms.. also observed an anatomy lab where students were dissecting cadavers). i was particularly impressed with the dorms. the rooms aren't the biggest but definitely cheap ($640 for size 17x10) and it's inside the medical center so everything is nearby (no jackets needed during the winter!). plus there's definitely a strong sense of community/family amongst the students.
Then we ate lunch with some 1st year students and was given a 30 minute-ish presentation basically on everything from curriculum, student life, research, to clinical opportunities.
they also showed us around Bellevue hospital. being one of the oldest/largest public hospital, they have a ton of diverse patient population and great clinical opportunities.
afterwards, i had my interview, which was very laid back and comfortable. i usually get nervous at interviews but i wasn't nervous AT ALL.
all in all, the whole day was a very positive experience and i would be thrilled to be given the opportunity to attend nyu.
anyways, good luck to u guys!!
