Hi guys! So far I've been accepted to these two schools.
Both are great schools according to my experiences there and from what I hear from dentists.
The thing is.. I'm from NY but I'm not sure if I want to live at home with my parents. Because they definitely going to make me. So I want to go to Pitt. The thing is, I am actually going to save money for going to NYU since I wont be paying living expenses for NY. So, I was wondering should I just stay in NY and go to NYU or pay the extra money to go to Pitt?
I save about 13k a year if I dont go to Pitt LOL

I'd go to NYU. 13K is a lot of money that you could be saving. Just my 2 cents!

Pitt's cost of living is one of the cheapest i've ever heard of/seen.

I don't know about you, but I know i'd definitely be able to concentrate more away from home/family distractions. Plus it is close enough to see family on occasional weekends if you wanted to.

I really liked Pitt when I was there...but do you prefer a small class or large class?

thanks for your responses guys! but literally 5 minutes after making this thread, I got accepted into Tufts LOL. I'm most likely going to Tufts 🙂

Hey west coaster.... Pitt is nowhere near close enough to NYC to see each other on occasional weekends.

hey does anyone know how hard of getting residency at Tufts? Have they mentioned about this during your interviews?

bump! 😎
Anyone know if I'll have trouble coming back to NY to practice? Like would I be at a disadvantage to those who graduated from NYU, Columbia, or Stony Brook? Thanks!

Just do your required 1 yr GPR in NY.

New York no longer accepts any regional clinical examinations (NERB) for state licensing. Instead they require a year long general residency (PGY-1?). There would not be any problems going to Pitt except for the fact you might have to take a regional exam you may never need in order to graduate. The residency can be done after graduation anywhere that NY approves.
