HI,

Has anyone ever participated in/heard of "NYU summer research program for the incoming dental students (D1)?" What benefits does it have for your future dental studies at NYU? How did you like it & do you recommend it? Is it difficult? Which projects were you involved in?

Any help is highly appreciated

I know that NYU is not that interested in student research so much, if u want to do it, it is only gonna be good for your personal interest... I have few friends who are students there and noone knows any details about the research. Also i asked about research during the interview and they told me that unless you have an MS you should wait until you finish your second year...

I had also debated the merits of doing summer research at NYU. I think its a valid point that having little advanced background in the basic sciences (a situation most of us is in), it may not be the best time to do research as an incoming student. However, keep in mind that as far as I know, there is little or no break between the first and second years, so starting research as a second year is adding to an already full workload. I'd say that if you know you want to go into a particular specialty, and have a topic of research in mind, go for it. Otherwise, you are better off enjoying things you will have little time to do in the next four years. NYUCD 2011
