Anyone one else make the mistake of mailing the NYU application before the earliest date of August 6th? I totally did not read the instructions carefully? anyone have experience with this type of mistake. definitely dont want to type this again.

dont worry nothing is going to happen

its not like they are going to throw it away..... 😀

throwing away is actually what i'm worried about. someone mentioned that is there policy. 😡

That's actually what I read on their application or a reliable source told me that they throw away anything that they would receive before August 5th. I made the mistake of sending my transcript on july 15th so I am going to call and see if they have it or if they tossed it....They are such dic*s on their application. They repeatedly say "do not call us.." well then they should provide an email or something to ask questions!

I called them a few months ago and asked what would happen if we mailed them materials before August 5th or whatever and the lady told me that they would throw it out. Then again, the lady sounded like she was in a hurry and didn't really want to talk to me, so I'm not sure if she was just saying that or what. 🙁

It sounds really harsh if that really is the case though, so I just don't know what to believe! 🙄

Hello hellojed...
haha...
you going into work tonight?
I think it's just the people who live in New York get all hard and are such a$$es on the phone. Who knows what they will do. I am going to call tomorrow and find out.

It's kinda funny, but NYU, Columbia, and Mt. Sinai admissions offices all seem to be a little harsh on the phone. Gotta love the big apple. No offense to anyone, I'm originally from New York. Just gotta have a little attitude to survive there.

Oh, I didn't know it was a New York thing! I just thought it was a I'm-sick-of-dealing-with-these-strung-out-premeds-admissions office thing. Oh well, in any case I'm sure everything will work out for the best for all of us! 😛

Scoob- what, you're not at work tonight are you? I goofed off all weekend, so much for secondaries... DOH! 🙁

Maybe it's just a "yankee" thing! 😀 All the "southern" schools that I applied to encouraged us to check on our apps / status as often as we liked. I'm not saying they would have appreciated a daily phone call but they didn't seem to mind bi-weekly check-ups. What a shame so many other schools seem to be so harsh...makes you wonder how they'll treat you once you become a student there.....

i'm giving them a ring tomorrow. i just cant imagine why they cant put stuff in a box and wait until they're ready. tossing it in the garbage doesn't help anyone in this case.

What about MCAT scores? I sent mine to them awhile ago, do they trash those too? thats an extra $20 bucks right there.

nevermind, I called them this morning and they said that anything other than the application, transcripts, letters of recommendation, MCAT Scores are kept if received before the deadline. If they receive an app before, they send it back to you.

wait, so they do or DO NOT save the application (app?)?? if they keep the other stuff, i'm sure they keep the application.

Yo yo Tbone,
I called and asked about the transcripts and they say that they keep that. I didn't ask about the app though 🙁
It seems from what that guy says you might be getting it returned to you..but it seems kind of late for that. I don't know what to tell ya 🙁

I called in a month before as I was preparing to send in my recs, transcripts and mcat scores and they said they accepted those and would keep it on file until they recieve your app. I heard from a friend that if you send in the app early they would return it to you...but i would call them just to double check that.

Hi Guys-

Can someone PLEASE find out for sure what they will do with early applications? I made copies of my application and now can't find it...so much effort into that application to have it just tossed out...Lord!!!!
