NYU vs. Stony Brook

So I was recently accepted by both Stony Brook and by NYU, and am having a little trouble deciding between the two. Initially I was leaning towards Stony Brook, because its really close to where I currently live (as a resident of NY) and has quite an affordable tuition. NYU on the other hand has the benefit of living and studying in the city. The thing that I am having most trouble with right now, however, is deciding between the two after receiving their financial packages. Stony Brook appears to be offering me ~10k as a grant, while NYU is offering around ~40k in their package.

I was curious at which I should choose.

40K from NYU is a big deal. Assuming the cost is cheaper overall, you should take it.

NYU is a fantastic school and is offering you a huge huge financial package. Really what else could you ask for?

I'd go NYU for name recognition alone.
