Which school has better reputation b/w NYU and Tufts?

Both are good, one is a little bit more expensive (NYU) than the other (TUFTS)

To the patients? It doesn't matter which school you graduated from. To your future colleagues? I believe Tufts but from what I've heard, NYU is trying to improve its reputation so maybe 4 years from now, they'll be on equal footing.

exactly.....i've interviewed at both. Tufts is a good school. and NYU is just starting to improve its reputation the last few years, and they are doing a good job as well. I would even put them in the same boat right now. so it depends on where ur from and where u'd like to be. good luck. NYU is a bit more overcrowded, but i don't think that is such a big issue

not that it really matters cuz "reputation" isn't that important in the real world of dentistry...but you guys are nuts. NYU has a rep for being the WORST school in the states. Now, i don't believe that at all, but that's the rep. Tufts has the rep of being one of the top 2 or 3 clinical schools in the states. In terms of reputation, I think they're world's apart. But in reality, you'll get a good education at both schools. Just go where you feel happy 👍

I can only speak for Tufts since I went to their interview but have never been to NYU.

I was really impresed with the school, the facilities, the sim labs and the clinic. They really prepare you for the boards as well. The #1 complaint I heard was the crazy amount of exams during the second year. But many dental schools have such crazy schedules.

Tufts seems like a very solid program and Boston is a great city!!!

go redsox.

I think you can't go wrong either way. It all comes down to location. I personally like Boston over NY but you may feel differently.

Good luck

Are you accepted at both?

any other opinions on these two schools? I am also debating between the two? steve0036 did you make a decision?

I was blown away by NYU, I loved every part of the school, and the clinics are incredible and constantly being renovated. I can't speak for Tufts though, haven't been.

Who do you like better the red sox or yankees.

got one even better, Bruins or Rangers.

i have not heard that at all. in fact, this is the very first time i see it on SDN. NYU has its flaws but weak clinical education is surely not one of them!!! NYU students are inundated with patients and the postgrad programs attract the very best. patients in boston have other options like BU and harvard while NYC patients go to NYU for the most part. their research is always booming and their journal, nexus, seems to be very influencial. and i dont know if that means anything here but according to the latest ADEA (see predents.com), NYU's last entering class average was 19 AA (0.78 point higher than Tufts) and their GPA was only 0.15 lower than that of Tufts. and in terms of aesthetics, one cannot beat NYU. the building is gorgious from the inside, especially the general clinic and all those sleak electronic screens they have. i think it all comes down to which city the OP prefers. NYC or Boston? they are both good schools with pros and cons
