NYU vs Tufts

Tuition and living cost is pretty comparable, so is class size. I'm currently living in Boston, but love NYC just as much...I'm pretty confused about which school to spend my deposit on.

So, which one would you pick and why?

I'm from the Boston area and would pick tufts just because of that most likely haha. Also, the class size is not comparable. Tufts is 185. NYU is 360.

Thanks for the input! I'm curious, could you add your reasoning for why tufts over NYU?

I got accepted to both. I'd choose Tufts over NYU because I like Boston better than New York. I also like that the class size is half that at NYU. Tufts also seems to have earned the reputation for setting graduates up for private practice in the New England area. For the class of 2012, 72 graduates went directly into private practice (40%) without doing a GPR or AEGD. I don't know what the numbers are for NYU, they might be similar. But, I like the New England area and would preferably like to practice there, and there's a large network of Tufts graduates there. Networking is always a good thing? Just my thoughts.

Tufts! I thought a class of 190 was already alot but a class of 360?? Also, Tufts is cheaper than NYU by 30-40k (http://dent.osu.edu/admissions/COST of ATTENDANCE - 2011.pdf) It's not up-to-date but still a rough comparison of dental school costs. You probably know Tufts is already an expensive school but to add another 30-40k to attend NYU? You hear people say "if it's only a 30-40k difference, it isn't a big deal" in dschool vs. dschool threads. However, when we're already comparing schools with two of the highest dental school costs ever, it really is a big deal. Besides, Tufts has a great reputation. Also, aside from the cost, I honestly haven't heard of anyone on SDN bashing Tufts ever ... unlike those crazy BU threads, etc.

Thanks for the feedback! Yea, that's something i noticed too - I've heard some negative things about NYU, but very little about tufts. 🙂
