Hey guys! I noticed that this thread hasn't started yet for 2005. I was just wondering if any of you who have been waitlisted this year 2005...have gotten accepted yet..in other words...is there movement in their list yet? They keep saying that more movement will be in May; however, my friend was taken off the wait list by this last year...anyy ideas? thank u 😀

Also, does anybody know how many people are still on the waiting list?

I actually called NYU just yesterday to find out more about their WL. They didn't tell me whether or not anyone has been pulled of the list yet, but they did say to expect major movement in mid june. So I guess that means we just sit and wait. Also, based on previous years, it seems like they do take a large number of students off it, so don't lose hope.

I heard that the NYU committee will meet on June 1st- so there won't be any movement before that. Good luck!

Just to reiterate, I heard mid-June as well was the time for movement.

Just bumping this one up in case anyone has any more info/has talked to the school...any ideas on size or # accepted off of the waitlist would be much appreciated (the same goes for Cornell waitlist)...

Anyone get an email today? I got an email from the Dean informing me that the Committee on Admissions will be meeting soon and inquiring as to whether I am still interested in being considered (I am on the waitlist). Anyone else get this??

Has anyone been rejected post interview?

I suspect everyone who was interviewed who wasn't offered a spot already were put on the waitlist.

I also got the email today and was wondering if it actually meant anything. Here's hoping we were a couple of the lucky ones.

THat would be lovely, although, I think it is more likely that BEFORE they review peoples files, they want to confirm that the people on the list are still even interested. But, hope springs eternal either way right?

i got a letter today dated 5/16 accepting me off the waitlist, so it looks like movement has begun. (i'm declining the spot though.) good luck to everyone waiting.

yep, I just got off the waitlist as well. My letter is dated May 23, but I didn't get it until today, so waitlist is moving!

Congrats girlie......but am I right to assume you arent interested having gotten into the school philly??

OK--so as of today (Monday) has anyone been accepted off of the wait list WITHOUT getting the "are you still interested" e-mail??? I'm just trying to figure out whether I should be checking my e-mail or my snail mail obsessively this summer (I'm already kinda checking every day for Cornell wait list movement as well!) :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck:

I did get the "are you still interested email", and I think NYU does acceptances by snail mail from their waitlist. Please correct me if I'm wrong. My letter came in a normal letter sized envelope, which is why I actually didn't bother sifting through the entire pile of mail, and it sat there on the kitchen counter for an entire afternoon. I was expecting a "big package" if anything. Best of luck.

Well... I don't like how you can't really know your fin aid package before saying yes but yea I signed my lease and all.. I'll be w/drawing so good luck to the rest of you!!

I called NYU and spoke with an admissions member and she told me that next week substantial movement will occur for the rest of us that weren't sent the email. "You'll know by early June," were her exact words. I immediately asked which date. She had none for me. hope this helps. I pity the postman these next couple of weeks. I commend all of you for remaining somewhat patient these last couple of months. Peace :luck: :luck: :luck:

Thanks for calling and sharing the info with us...this helps, at least I can relax about NYU until next week.

Could this mean they're going to reduce the size of the waitlist (ie send rejections to some/many of those on the waitlist)???

Yesterday, I got their e-mail asking if I'm still interested in gaining admissions. I responded with a yes, and will be keeping my fingers crossed for good news from them.

Congrats smiley, your letter may already be in the mail!!!

Hey there, I understand what you mean by wanting this process to be done. I was lucky enough to get a few acceptances, so I ended up giving up my Jefferson one pretty early (therefore didn't do second look). I had the toughest time deciding between Einstein and my state school, and when I finally settled on Einstein and began the preparations, I hear from NYU. It was great, but its such a tumultuous process!! Again, congrats.

I'm crossing my fingers for everyone waiting (including my selfish self)...let's hope this coming week brings some good news...is anyone else also wait-listed at Cornell? Given their apparent "about every two weeks" movement trend, this week might bring some movement there also.

:luck: :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck:

Ok, where's the movement NYU?!!!!!

no kidding, I havent seen any significant movement

So get this. I called them yesterday and the person over at admissions informed me that there hasn't been much movement to date and also that from here on out, the students accepted off the WL would be taken in the order of GPA and MCAT scores (so much for looking at the big picture). I kind of found that hard to believe, but I guess time will tell.

So if that's the case, why not just tell us our ranking? If they are sure, why not let us know so we can make our plans accordingly. I'm getting sick of schools disguising their methods for waitlist movement, lying about being unranked (when they are clearly not) and so on.

Are you serious? Whenever I call they tell me ZIP! Hmmm, I can't believe that even if that is true they just came out and told you. But yes, you are right, they should just come out and tell us our rank then!

I sincerely doubt the validity of scoops418's post. I really doubt that they would just all of a sudden change their stated policy, and even if they did I really really doubt they would just spit that out on the phone to some random person...it doesn't make sense. If you're BSing us scoops418 just let us know now...otherwise let us know who you called and when you called so we can call for ourselves when that person's working to inquire as to whether that info is true.

First of all, I have never trolled or posted untrue information on SDN. I was just as amazed as all of you at their newfound approach for taking students off the waitlist especially since they are so adament about not ranking us. It is very possible that the person who told me that was misinformed; when i called the admissions office, I didn't ask for anyone in particular. So this could be just a classic case of information getting modified as its passed along. I just thought I would share the news I was given with fellow waitlisters.

I officially got my acceptance letter from NYU today, June 15th. They e-mailed me on June 6th to see if I was still interested and their letter is dated June 8th. Surprisingly, they sent my acceptance letter to my permanent home address as opposed to my current home address. By the way, the acceptance letter is mailed in a small envelope (very deceiving). Whew!! Good luck to all of you guys!

It´s been a while since I´ve been on SDN. For all those wondering, I never received an e'mail asking me if I was still interested in NYU and I was accepted. I sent a letter of intent so maybe that made the letter unnecessary. Good luck to those waiting.

sorry I doubted you scoops...it's just so random that they would say that...if it's true it would actually help me b/c I my stats are solid but I am a little bit lacking in research exp (something I'm sure NYU would count against me)...so I guess I actually hope whoever told u that wasn't mistaken...

I have heard that NYU takes lots of people on their wait list, so I can see where it would save them a lot of time if they just structured a list by mcat/gpa and then went down the list as spots came available...that would significantly reduce the amount of time the adcom would have to deal with filling open spots with people who might not even take the spot they're offered.

thanks for that info...it has been a topic of concern for many of us for a while now...so at least I can still have a feeling of excitement when I check my mailbox even though I didn't get the e-mail...

Hey no worries. My stats are also solid so I am hoping that my informant was correct. I guess we can verify this once some of us start getting off the WL, but until then, good luck with the waiting.

Hey scoops, yes I got the e-mail today too

thats awesome dr drums! I know we were both very set on NYU all along. So far, getting the email has translated into getting in off the WL; I just hope that we aren't exceptions to the rule. Congrats and let me know when you hear something more definite.

I received the email today, which I assume means I may be accepted shortly. I will actually be withdrawing, so i hope someone for whom NYU is his/her first choice gets it!

Good luck!

OK...HUGELY important detail I want to ask you all--scoops418, Bunsen Honeydew, and Drdrums--are all of you accepted at other schools already? I'm just wondering if they send that to accepted WL candidates who are already accepted elsewhere (which they can see on AMCAS online)...also PLEASE let me or the thread know when you get a letter and when it is dated if you're not to busy celebrating! Congrats to you all!!! (even if ur not going there...it which case my congrats are even bigger b/c that's one more spot open!)

Haha. Thanks. I received another email today informing me that the official acceptance letter was in the mail. Up until now, I have been holding a spot at AECOM, but I am definitely going to withdraw now that I have this acceptance in hand. Good luck to everyone else on this waitlist!
