NYU Waitlist??

i'm on the waitlist as well. i honestly don't understand why i am though. the doc who interviewed me said he only had good things to tell the adcom about me so what role did the interview actually play in the admissions process??? who knows. i'm going to contact them and see if they'll indulge on any info pertaining to where i am on the list, etc...

but i'd say our chances are pretty good. how many people are going to actually accept the offer if they are invited to other schools ($)?
 
WTF? what are your stats? i haven't heard a peep from NYU.....no interview, nothing..... 😕

they are still sending out interview invites, correct?

I also got waitlisted. anyone knows how this works ?
I need to ask something. if those who got accepted give up their acceptance, and then we start to be accepted ?
So Do we need to wait until Jan 15 which deposit due date ?

I still haven't gotten anything from them...is that bad? I interviewed early last month. Its kind of freakin me out seein people on the west coast that have heard from them, yet I dont have anything:scared:
 
I got waitlisted.... I live about 30 minutes from the school and i got it today.... it was postmarked dec 2nd
 
Waitlisted. Interviewed Nov 3rd. Letter postmarked Dec. 2nd. Received today.

is being on the nyu waitlist better than being on another schools waitlist??? i called today and they said that being on the waitlist meant that they would re-review our apps in march, has anyone heard anything differently?
 
guess wut. I've called and asked what wait listing means. The lady said wait listee will be reviewed in march. Just out of curiosity, I asked her whether if i have a chance of admission. I told her to that Ian honest answer would appreciated. Her answer? "Be honest, I don't think it's gonna work out". It's really really sad when you can't blame someone after asking for honest answer.

BTW, guys, NYU said they had 4100 applicants so far this year. That's twice the number of app 3 yrs ago. That should've made them change their application process.

Interesting.....this waitlist nonsense blows. I called NYU as well. I was told that my app would be reviewed again after Jan. 15th. She said that the acceptances sent out now had the statistics that NYU would like to have, but once Jan. 15th passes then they would have a better idea of their "realized" stats based on the averages of those who put a deposit down.

So NYU wants their stats to jump from 19 to 21.x in one year. Very ambitious. They now want top 5 school stats.
 
I don't get it. BenignDMD you sure they said Jan 15? I called again to check and they said march. They said no one will take a look at wait listees till march. I'm confused!
 
just got the letter. Wait list! GRRrr.
I called in and a gentleman told me they will look again in March. This blows.

JB do not worry about not getting an interview yet. When I Was there interviewing they told us that they have no interest in filling up their class pre-dec 1st. So you still have a very good shot at getting in. I would call up though and show some interest though if you havent done already.
 
So did anyone else find out whether its January 15th or March? Getting different answers is kinda confusing.
 
Yeah looks like they will keep interviewing till March and then review the file. It doesn't look too good right now.

I called today to see if my deposit arrived, and they said no. However, I was told that as long as it was postmarked before today there would not be a problem. My guess is that they won't start "reviewing" applications for awhile. Is this how most schools are? I was hoping to hear from other schools in the next little while, but it sounds like I may not hear for quite some time...
