does anyone know about this school?

Long story short....i was accepted to NYU CAS, but decided on Tulane College instead, even though i wanted to get out of NO. So basically i'm looking into applying to NYU again. Except this time Gallatin has caught my attention. Will it allow me to have a flexible undergrad education? I am interested in molecular biology and applied music (vocal).

How strict is CAS compared to Gallatin.

Does anyone currently attend it?

Thanks

edited: sorry let me conclude. 🙂 Does anyone have any info about the school?

I have a friend from high school in Gallatin... odd guy very imaginative and full of bull**** stories and genius, but he seems to be doing very well. I believe his curriculum is a mix of guitar and music study, contemporary literature, and history.

And hey, it's also the school in NYU that the two Olsen Twins are in. I'm tempted to say "Poor girls, for all the crap in the tabloids they deal with" but then again, I suppose being a millionaire at 18 is probably quite a bit of solace.

I graduated from NYU's CAS and knew a lot of people in Gallatin. If you major in Molecular Bio and Voice, you will take Bio classes from CAS and voice classes from the School of Education. Your degree will be formally known as a "degree in individualized study." I don't know if that's less prestigious. Who really cares? Your Bio classes would be the same as CAS. I think the main difference between Galatin and CAS (other than the name of your degree) is your core curriculum. Each school has their own core. I don't know which professors teach Gallatin's core. Our core was taught my full professors from CAS (but the classes were huge).

yeah i'm told that the core classes at gallatin are much smaller. Which i find appeal. Great chances to get to know your professor better, and etc.

If i wanted to take voice class, like voice classes that allows you to go into a recording studio and do some practice....does tisch have classes like that? If so... are other students able to take those classes or are only music majors allowed?

thanks

I think voice classes are offered through the School of Education-- not Tisch. Maybe Tisch offers them, but it's probably only open to Tisch students. Gallatin and CAS classes may take School of Ed classes.
