Just wondering if anyone is at a school where their OB/Gyn Department is low-key, friendly, happy or normal? More like family med or peds people?

I'm interested in Ob/Gyn, but I definitely don't want to stay at my school and I'm just wondering if Ob/Gyns are cold and uptight everywhere... 👎
because it seems that lots of people are posting really negative feedback about their Ob rotations and their experiences with the residents...

If your department is cool, would you mind letting me know where it is?

Thank you! 😛

I'm currently rotating at a community hospital and the obgyn's (attendings and residents) are mostly super nice. They actually remind me a lot of the peds people, except w/o and the 25% of peds types that are annoying, b*tchy, and have inferiority complexes. It's kind of surprising since I was expecting the worst. They still get worked pretty darn hard though and can be somewhat a bit snippy at times.

Thanks Sledge - good to know there are decent programs out there!
Is it too much to ask where you're rotating?

Thank you!

I'll second the idea about community programs. I'm rotating at a smallish community program right now and the residents, with 1 or 2 exceptions and most of the attendings (all private) are at least personable if not outright nice.

I wonder if this really is an academic vs. community program thing, since I was expecting absolute torture on OB/GYN, vaginal hysterectomies notwithstanding.
