How competitive are OB residencies? Are there alot of spots? Do you think more people will go into ob in the near future? I won't be applying to med school until next year but OB is my love. Can't think of anything else I would rather be doing than delivering babies and taking care of pregnant women. I am not worried about getting into med school ( I have good grades and usually do good on standardized test. I will also take about six months of studying for the MCAT.) But I am a little worried I might not be able to get an OB spot. I don't think I would really enjoy doing anything else as much. And I am not getting any younger!

Thanks

Worry about:
finishing undergrad
getting a degree
doing well on the mcat
doing well on interviews
doing well in basic sciences
doing well on Step 1
doing well in clerckships
doing well on shelves
doing well on Step 2

And then if you are still interested in OB (a lot of us come in liking one thing and leave loving another) then worry about it... There will always be residencies and spots and there is no point worrying about it now.

Good Luck
