I know I am **** with only Comlex 1 and 2 scores. Comlex 1 passed with one try and my Comlex 2 score is only 466. No failed classes and exams. Do you guys think I should delay my graduation to take step 2 and try to apply for residency next year? If not should I just stick with FM only? I don't know being a male with help match into OBGYN.

You could try old AOA/DO programs, but matching OBGYN is blood bath from what I’ve see even with Step scores. I doubt 466 on level 2 will cut it unfortunately.

The more I learn about our health system, the more I realize the value of family medicine and its importance. This is apparent in the way that many specialists have very little idea about other specialties' knowledge bases. Family medicine is the glue.

Essentially no chance. I’ve worked with FM residents in the same situation who dual applied to obgyn and FM without step scores. I think only one got any interviews and clearly didn’t match.

A DO is essentially dead in the water for obgyn without steps. It’s actually difficult to match even with scores above the 50th percentile and you barely passed comlex. It’s probably time to move on. No harm in applying just to see what happens I guess to get it out of your system.

I believe there are OB fellowships in FM that train you for routine OB and routine GYN management. I believe credentialing in many places, other than rural med, might be difficult. Some do C sections, but I would imagine it is an uphill struggle with med Mal insurance and local hospitals credentialing. I think you would be limiting yourself to very rural areas.
