I've recently decided that I want to pursue PT. However, I want to shadow a PT before I really jump into completing the pre-req's just be sure that I really want to pursue PT. Is it okay if the observation hours I log now are 2-3+ years old when I go to apply?

I'm looking to shadow at a hospital near my apartment and they require a minimum commitment of 100hours and I don't really want to observe for 100hrs if I'll need to do it again closer to when I plan to apply to school

I love my current career (it's most little girls dream 🙂 and was mine!) so I'm not really looking to apply until at the earliest Fall2013 with the goal of starting in Fall2014. I would be a non-trad applicant. I received my bachelors in 2008.

Thanks!

This is a question that is better addressed to the schools to which you will be applying. i would suggest contacting the schools to which you may apply and ask them if they will accept 2+ year old observation hours.

I agree. It will probably be fine though. I asked when I applied and they said you need one set of hours that are current. So I volunteered to get current hours and used my older work hours as a tech(they were 5 years old actually 🙂) in my application (and I got in).
