Hey guys, I really need your help here.

I am a foreign dentist, graduated last year, i am applying to Advanced standing program i a postgraduate program.
But the problem is that my status and my application are not very strong.

Currently, i am staying in USA with my family.

I want to work or do any thing that is related to the dental field, i really need an experience here in the US.
Could you please guys help, and tell what are my chances here with observership, internship, externship, volunteer, research.

Hi
I dint understand whether you are applying to Advanced Standing Programs or Post Graduate Programs. But Coming to your question you can volunteer as an observer with any of the private dentists in the area where you are presently residing. Most dentists agree to take u as an observer.
You can also try the Preceptorship Programs at different dental schools. It really depends on where you are living. These Preceptorship programs require you to pay a tuition fee and can enroll you for 1 to 4 quarters. So you can search for such programs in the dental schools of your area.
Best Regards

Hi, Im also interest in getting some dental field related experiences in US. i want to apply for the advanced standing and AEGD. I can legally work in US. Is there any working experiences that i can get with a pay check? instead of volunteering or pay tuition. thanks!!

Hi
Sorry I really dont have any clue about the places to work as a dentist where you can be paid. Since you are legally allowed to work, you can try asking ppl who are in a similar visa state or have previously done something similar. My knowledge is restricted to the Volunteering and Preceptorship Programs only. I apologise again for not being able to help.

Regards

how about try to find a dental assistant position?

Hi sailing, as a FTD are we legally to work as a dental assistant? or we need to have dental assistant license first? or we can only in certain states? thank you.

I can work legally in US too, but till now i didn't find any thing related to the dental field. If you find anything useful would you please share it here. Thank you.

as long as a clinic would like to offer your position, I think you can work as an assistant without any legel problem. I know some assistants work without license.

It's really up to a clinic or dentist. Try to contact with any local dentists you can find. You also can try to looking at craigslist.

Good luck!

thank you Dentist28.
