A few years ago I made significant contributions to a specific chapter of a medical reference textbook. The textbook was released in the past 2 weeks and is for sale for nearly $300.

Is there any way for me to contact the publisher to obtain a copy, since I made contributions to the book and am listed in the book's contributors section? Or will I have to just pony up the cash and buy it like everyone else?

PS. I don't want a copy just because my name is in it, I feel that the book is very useful and that I'd benefit quite a bit from having it! 😛

Thanks in advance.

Is there a more senior person you worked with at your institution also listed among the books contributors? They would be the 1st person I would recommend talking to

Good idea. I reached out to the physician I worked closest with, we'll have to see what he says. Thanks!

No, you don't get a free copy.
