I'll start off with the LORs that I do have. I am getting an excellent LOR from a physician (DO) who I work with. I'm also getting a LOR from my PI who is not a BCPM professor, but does teach a health science and will count as a science LOR for my application to DO schools but not MD schools.

I go to a large school where it's hard to really get to know professors on an individual basis. I usually don't have a hard enough time with classes to the point where I have to go to office hours on a semi-weekly basis for help, so I don't really have too many relationships with my professors.

The 1-2 professors who I have had to go to office hours for are not professors that I can get LORs from due to either not getting an A in the class or them not being a BCPM professor. I know most schools require at least 1 science letter, but does anyone know how strict they are with this requirement? Because I could easily get another letter from a nutrition professor (phd).

I'm currently enrolled in two upper level BIO classes and I am applying this upcoming summer. I feel dumb for not trying harder to get a BCPM LOR or two earlier. I feel like this semester is my last chance to get one. What would you guys suggest/do if you were in my position?

I'd say get to know one/two of those two Bio professors this semester really well.

Yeah, I went to one of their office hours today and asked for help on a problem that I completely knew how to do -___- lol gotta start the relationship somehow. Thanks for your response.

Nutrition counts as a science ....
yes, but I've heard that some schools only consider BCPM classes as a science i.e. only the classes that count towards the science gpa. This questions was meant more for MD schools than for DO schools. I should've posted the thread in the pre-allo forum. My bad.

I'm sort of planning to do something similar. Beginning of semester, you can ask about textbook/lecture material on exams, ask about their research, expand on something interesting from lecture, etc....between exams you can also talk about questions/concepts you missed and how to improve.
