Anyone ever use organic chemistry as a second language I for review?

I used gen chem as a second language. It was so fulfilling I stopped after the second chapter.

i used them both for ochem1 and 2. Wasnt as detailed as I wanted but for an overall quick hit of major reactions it really cant be beat. I recommend it. I can say it helped me get an 'A' in both of those courses

Samurai, what did you want more detail on? Could you be more specific?

Unless I mised it, it completely skipped nmr, IR, Spectro. My class (as well as most ochem classes that I know of) touch on biochem towards the end, meaning learning some carbohydrate stuff, protein stuff, etc etc. And the book didnt cover that either.

None of those were a big deal, I just wished it covered them. This could be a personal bias because my textbook sucked *** and I pretty much used this book to cover most of the stuff I learned in class, but had to still read my textbook to cover some other reactions that were not included.👍

This book does a great job of explaining the basics well. For some of the finer, more detailed stuff though, you'll have to refer to your textbook and/or class notes. However, I felt like it was a great way to build a very solid foundation and when we discussed some of the more advanced concepts in my orgo class, it was that much easier for me to understand.

This book probably covers about 75%-80% of what will be covered in your orgo class. NMR, IR, and Mass spectroscopy were covered in my orgo I class but not covered in OSCL. My orgo II professor covered some biochem and polymer chem, and this was not covered in OCSL either.

Im doing the exercises in it all over again, because I think its a good review of chemistry topics period - especially the chapters on resonance and acid-base chemistry, though the latter isnt very detailed.
