Hi all,

First post here, but I am excited to contribute when possible.

I'm registered for the May 31st exam and am behind in my study schedule. To catch up, I am considering Chad's videos as my sole source of OChem content, while supplementing with TBR's passages. I've also been fortunate enough to find a cheap copy of the TPRH SW. I may use that along with TBR.

Anyone have any experience with this method? Thoughts?

Also, thoughts on the quality of TPRH SW OChem questions/passages compared to those in TBR?

Any input would be much appreciated.

Chad is fantastic for orgo. I think using TBR and TPR for passages you will be fine using Chad for content review.

That's what I did for orgo.
TBR goes into soo much detail for orgo, so dont bother. Use TPRH passages.

You dont even need to know much for orgo as long as you understand the role of nucleophiles + electrophiles.

I think this is doable, particularly if you have taken ochem I recently.

Noted. It's been a couple years since both I & II, so I hope my memory hasn't been completely wiped. Thanks for the input!

Also noted. Prior to your using this method, how was your knowledge base? I ask because it sounds like you advocate a TBR-free OChem prep, and I know from experience with TBR Phys and Gen Chem that their passages/associated questions can teach a great deal themselves.

If your background was as average as mine (see above--I'm a couple years out from the course, though I earned "good" to "decent" grades) before you started studying, has the Chad's + TPRH SW combo given you the confidence to regularly achieve >70ish% OChem questions correct on the BS section of AAMC FLs? I realize this is highly relative from person to person, but some idea might help with my time crunch. Thanks!

No, I didnt even buy TBR orgo books. I just know they go into so much detail for orgo because of the questions on their FLs. Yes. My background is pretty basic. And you just need to know basic stuff for MCAT. Seriously, they will never ask something ridiculously hard for orgo.

You should know that TPRH passages are not representative of AAMC FLs either. They are only for content review. Most orgo questions can be answered by just referring back to the passage.

I didnt even finish TPRH btw. I did only 1/3 of them. They have like 45 passages and I did only 10~15 of them lol.
But when you use chad's notes, make sure you understand every single thing he says.

Understood! Looks like this is the approach I'll take. Thanks again.
