hi,
i was wondering if anyone had any input on this. while on my ob/gyn rotation one of our attendings mentioned how being pregnant is like being on a really high dose of birth control pill (hormonally speaking). this got me thinking, if a woman has weird side effects with the higher dose OCP's (like anxiety or depression) which do not occur when off the OCP, does this have any predictive value for how she will be during pregnancy/postpartum (in terms of developing anxiety/depression)?
thanks

just some anecdotal input: I had TERRIBLE problems with depression while on depo and then had TERRIBLE peri-natal depression with my first pregnancy (on Wellbutrin with pregnancy #2 and no problems).

I'd be interested to hear some clinical info on this. I've never gone back on chemical BC since then (was on depo about 13 years ago) and I guess it's for the best
