Does anyone know if the situation there really as bad as "the message" said, in one of his posts a while back? im really curious. thanks.

Well we got electricity and water now so we must be diong something right 🙂

On a more serious note, I don't exactly know what that "message" person said or elluded to but I've been there for 3 years and its not so bad. I don't think its a top 3 school to tell you the truth but I think it is strong enough to prepare you for any strong residency provided that you put in all the time and effort. Here's my honest take about the Not-so top 2 or 3 schools in general. They will provide you with all the material to succeed but it will take a stronger effort and dedication on your part to make the commitment to succeed - a school like DMU for example will provide the student with a better environment to succeed but that does not mean that a student from OCPM can not succeed as well - I went to OCPM for 3 years and I honestly have no regrets - I received great basic sciences education (although it took alot of extra individual effort on my part) and I'm enjoying the great clinical exposure that I'm receiving in my third year - so overall, no complaints but I can't wait till all this is over so I can start residency lol

I think you'd benefit more if you visit the program and see for yourself - I'm sure a number of us SDNers here have emphasized this fact, but always visit more than one school or program to base a comparison and don't be shy about asking any questions - i.e. board pass rates...I know at DMU they have the 100% rate - we can't make the same claim - as a matter of fact, we were at 85% for part I. Also check for residency placements - i.e. how many students get their first choices and where do they typically go, etc.

Good luck
