I called FIU yesterday and they confirmed that they were no longer allowed to convey acceptances on 10/15, but they told me that I will get an email at 12:01am on Saturday if I am accepted. It may be that UC Davis just doesn't want to bother with the weekend release.

They are allowed to, they just choose to follow the AAMC's guidelines. I already heard back from one school.
Also, what's with these schools making everyone wait an extra 3 days for a response?

Also, someone in the c/o 2015 thread got an acceptance call today, so definitely a few schools are not waiting for the 18th. If your school told you earlier than the 18th, you may still get an email/call. I honestly feel like I'd be such a jerk to call FIU again tomorrow, when I just called yesterday. I doubt they changed it today.
 
That was a DO school, though. I don't imagine they much care what the AAMC recommends for admission decision accouncement dates.
 
Cliff heard from a DO school. I don't know where wanderer heard from, but my guess is MD. I dunno.

I'm staying hopeful for tomorrow.

All this 18th news is horrible. I think I'm just going to break down and call FIU again tomorrow, because the way they work is if you get the 12:01 email, you're in. If you don't, you're waitlisted. I will have a MISERABLE weekend if they actually changed it to the 18th and I spend the weekend thinking I 100% didn't get in.

I swear, this process is causing me to develop psychological disorders.

It's an MD school. Some candidates got accepted as well today.

Also that school promised us that we'd get status updates on midnight of the 15th (aka 1 second after 10/14 23:59:59), but we got it at the end of today's business day (like 5:00).

I know. It's cruelty. I think the schools that actually follow this advice after telling their students they will get news on the 15th will soon regret it....

The schools i interviewed at said they would let us know on the 15th, but after carefully reading the AAMC guidelines, it does clearly state that they cannot let us know until after the 15th :scared:

I was the one who posted that info on the davis thread. The email said the following.....

"Thank you for visiting our medical school and sharing your life experiences with us. I want to update you on the admission process. We were informed by the AAMC that all medical schools can begin informing applicants of admission decisions starting on Monday, October 18. "

🙁 I am already so anxious and now I have to wait even longer!!

We know that was their policy, but some schools have stated that the AAMC (ridiculously) pushed back the recommended date this year to Oct 18. Honestly, I don't understand the point of this, considering anyone who gets accepted has until May to decide anyway.
 
I'm quite curious to see if any other schools will be sending out acceptances other than michigan.

The University of Buffalo has as well.

Seriously people what is the AAMC thinking? I wouldn't have minded much if they would have informed us a while back, but waiting until the last second to tell us, is just plain wrong.
 
Guys, AAMC didn't push the date out to the 18th explicitly. They gave schools that notify people electronically the option of doing it over the weekend after midnight tonight or on Monday. It's up to the schools to pick which option works best for their setups.
 
What is the point exactly of the Oct 15th rule?

The thing is that UCD told everyone they would give out decisions starting Oct 15, so I've been preparing myself to hear back today. Then yesterday (Oct 14), they change their minds, now they won't release decisions until Monday or later. I'm going crazy with more waiting!! This weekend isn't going to be fun...
 
This is going to be the longest weekend ever. I don't think I have ever wished it was Monday before. Booo AAMC.

If this is true then why did U of Mich send out an electronic acceptance video at midnight (between Oct 14th and 15th)??? It's not the weekend yet!

ugh I know! I had already planned a huge outing with friends for tonight to either party in celebration or party in mourning....Come on Monday!!!!! I'm waiting for you!!!!

Because they don't seem to care if the AAMC sent all adcoms an email saying not to.:shrug: Have I seen this email? Yes.
 
I really wanted to know TODAY if I got in anywhere so that I could change my game plan IF NEED BE because I have an interview MONDAY! 😱
