Haha it went well. And hey there was a computer and they said "you can check your email or whatever on that if you want" so I did and I somehow ended up on SDN.

There was an actual "aaahhhh thread"!? That's totally what the name (or nickname) of the 2008-2009 Acceptance Thread should be!

Hmmm tell amph. We've debated who should start the acceptance thread, and we've decided that it'll be whoever actually does it first, at a reasonable point in the admissions process (as in, not today, cause no acceptances will come for a while). If anyone (ahem, shemarty, ahem) beats us both, we'll cry.
 
Shemarty will be on that thread like white on rice. I agree that it should be whoever gets the first acceptance.

Time to go back to watching Dino Night on Discovery Channel.
 
M1 is first year med student, so M0 is 0-year med student (i.e., those applying now)
 
It's another week .... another day closer to being a true M1! I was just reading the suit thread and hoping that my off the wall colored suit worked well for me. 😱:scared: :laugh::laugh:

If I get an acceptance, you should all buy funky suits. 👍

and yeah, I think you can get rejected pretty much whenever, although as far as I can tell people don't get rejected before Oct. 15th post-interview. Maybe it's just the "easy" thing for schools, to send everything out at once.

I've wondered this myself. The official rule by AAMC states:
"Each school notify all applicants - other than Combined College/M.D., Early Decision Program (EDP), and deferred matriculation applicants - of acceptance to medical school only after October 15 of each admission cycle. It may be appropriate to communicate notifications of decisions other than acceptance to medical school to applicants prior to October 15."

Therefore, I would think that any answer besides a complete "acceptance" would be allowed to be released.. on the other hand, if they release "rejections" and "under reviews", doesn't that sorta guarantee your acceptance if you don't get one? Call the admissions office and get a "you aren't rejected, and you aren't under review, but we can't tell you you've been accepted until Oct 16?"😆

Where did you get the countdown thing from? Is it a Facebook app or something.

Anyway, it's a moot point for me. My potential acceptance would be snail mailed out on 10/15, so that tacks on an undetermined number of days.

*sigh*
 
Not to have a negative forecast on things, but can a negative decision be given before Oct 16th?

I think the poster was referring to post-interview rejection, right? Are there some post-interview rejections on the rejection thread? I generally avoid it because it depresses me.. :laugh:
 
friends and girlfriend make the wait easier.
 
Handy, are you implying I have no friends? lol, jk. weekends aren't too bad - but working 8-5 in front of a computer everyday and not actually being busy is a drag.

Except if the person has caller ID and knows the admissions office number they know that it would be a prank.

The REALLY sad thing is that there's only about a 10 percent chance that ANY of my schools will inform via telephone. Hahaha.

Well, the rule says "after Oct 15", but some schools in the MSAR say they give decisions ON the 15th.. So anytime from 12:01 AM the 15th is fair game I suppose.

All my schools are "after" 🙁

Depends on the school. Some schools like UMich surprise me with theire 12 am of the 15th emails. I remember that a few years ago. Kinda funny actually.
