October for Step 2

Hey Guys!

Interesting situation and advice would be greatly appreciated. When should I take step 2?
I have heard that Oct is too late for IM programs... is that true?

It's very unlikely that a lack of Step 2 will effect your Optho scores.

Now for IM, many programs are placing a larger and larger emphasis on Step 2. It could definitely impact your chances at these schools that take a hard line on requiring CK scores to give out interviews. This is very residency director dependent. Additionally, you need to remember that even with any August test date, you won't be getting scores till October. (USMLE released an announcement saying any Steps taken after July 28th will not be reported till 9/24. Thus your timeframe of score with a mid to late August test date will be even further after that).
Bottom line: talk to your IM advisor regarding the programs you're interested in and if Step2CK is required for interviews.

Are you serious? I am pretty sure that person scored 247 on Step1. Tell me who wouldnt be happy about that score!!!
