# of shifts per away rotation?

Great question. Im sure it varies by shift length and amount of didactics. At mine we work 14-15 shifts but they are 9-10 hours shifts. I have heard at some places you only work 11-12 but done a ton of didactics/sim training and/or they may be 12 hour shifts

Currently doing an away. Total of 16 8 hour shifts including 1 EMS ride along and 1 toxicology day. Lot of times it goes over 8 hours due to rounds but get a lot of quality teaching then. Also have multiple didactic sessions with sim training and we get to go to the zoo one day for behind the scened look at snakes, etc.

Twelve 10's here, plus a didactic day each week. Didactic days are primarily spent doing simulation/procedures, very little actual lectures which is nice.

both of my rotations were 15 8-hour shifts

A few I've done:
-13 8 hour shifts + some mild didactics in addition
-11 12 hour shift with virtually no extra stuff, weekly conference which may or may not be during a shift.
-120 hours total, with weekly lectures and weekly grand rounds and 2 half day workshops. These extra sessions not counting toward hours requirements. (this was the most demanding of the three listed)
