As all sports fanatics know. it's all about the under-dogs...or the come back....not that I'm directly comparing the process of applying to vet to school to competative sports...or maybe I just did:laugh:

Well, and I have this great urge to share the joy and have lots of people get in. Maybe even to Oregon State!

Im stalking my phone now instead of the mailman... at least I knew what time the mailman came.. my phone could ring any minute... Im totally going to be in the bathroom if they call.. thats always how it is for me with important phone calls...

I can usually shut up when I need to, however, I would probably flush without realizing it.. haha

Blame it on your cat...mine is always flushing the toilet! (Note: she does not use it before hand...just likes the noise)
 
haha... oh wow.. Im glad my cat doesnt know how to do that... but she does know I wake up imediately (and in a panic) if i hear her chewing on plastic (bad case of pica, thankfully no surgery needed yet)... she used to use it to her advantage to get an early breakfast... she only gets fed SID at night now ;-)
 
So when do you think most of us will start hearing back? I know that the deadline for deposits is supposedly April 15th, but I think we won't start hearing back until the 17th or 18th (the schools need the deposits POSTMARKED by the 15th, right?)

this depends on the school. LSU wants it postmarked, but Tufts wants it there by the 15th... so it just depends...

I think some school are obviously already letting people know, but i wouldn't expect anything until next week. Gives them time to get all the numbers together this week and meet early next week and call people the following few days after.

Definitely next week tho, this thread should be bumped to the top like CRAZY...

Louisiana State University: StillDreaming (A:3/30, email and online status update followed by snail mail, OOS no ranking)

Oregon State: ORvetgirl (A: 4/7, email to be followed by snail mail, IS)

Purdue University: PharmToxGuy82 (A: 4/10, phone call, IS)

University of Missouri: OnceBitten (A: 2/23, snail mail followed up by several phone calls, OOS #14)

VMRCVM: Crewgal (A:4/6, phone call, IS)

I hear you, Vista. I am really trying to remember that it may be a long time until I hear anything, if I even hear anything at all! I think this waitlisted business is a mild form of torture...

I'm crossing every appendage possible...for both of us, and anyone else who is waiting and hoping. Especially RedSteven!
 
I know it's probably unrealistic, but jeez, I want to hear something tomorrow!
 
ok i've been mostly lurking for months now but as the 15th grows closer i have gotten increasingly psychotic. i've checked SDN like 5 times today to see if the Western waitlist is moving even though I know it's going to be a little while! i def did not think i'd be going this crazy. i'm assuming you all are about ready to check into the nuthouse as well?:scared::scared::scared::scared::scared::scared:

I feel ya! I feel like I can't get all psyched for vet school yet since I'm not 100% sure where I'm going! Granted, I'm very lucky I got into at least one school, but my life is still somewhat in limbo... :scared:

I know, I am waiting on a few schools and I am already checking my phone just to make sure no one called. Here is hoping that schools will get their numbers together quickly and hopefully call us all:xf::luck:

God i hear ya on the limbo thing...i'm working/taking prereqs in champaign il (soybeans and bars.) western is my last chance to get in this year...so i'm waiting to hear whether i'll be working full time in the midwest or packing up and moving to california!! i hate that the chances are so slim that i'll get in, yet the fact that there's a chance at all keeps me obsessing! at least i'll know when i apply next year that i got as close as you can get without actually getting in 🙂
 
I was just having a discussion with my brother in law about how I am stuck in pergatory.. much like limbo.. Im glad Im not the only one who feels this way
 
I feel for all of you. The wait has got to be excruciating!! I hope that they get their numbers sorted out soon for your sake. I'm sure that I could be in the same boat next year, eek!
 
Purdue's wait list is moving! I was accepted this morning along with two of my friends, we are all IS. They called us around 9AM. Just a warning the phone number is private so be sure to answer it!
 
I'm seriously going insane over this. This is my second year on the Purdue IS waitlist and I feel like I'll never get into my IS. I'm also on the western waitlist so it's double agony!!! Tine, I'm right there with you on the either working full time in the midwest or possibly moving all the way to cali! Agh...I just want to know one way or the other. The waitlist is a form of torture, and for me the kiss of death.🙁

I know, I feel that way too. In some sense I know it's selfish not to totally appreciate my first acceptance (to Ross) when plenty of people don't have any acceptances yet at all... but I can't help it.

Just remember, it's not over 'til it's over. Yes, you should try to be realistic about things, but you're not totally out of the running yet.
Have you tried contacting the school to see if they would give you info on your position on the wait list?
 
well purdue has a bolded line in the letter specifically saying they won't tell you anything. Western doesn't rank the alternates, just has a pool of them. So it's a shot in the dark at this point!

Kansas doesn't rank, they pull the person out most representing the candidate who turned down the spot.

ahhhh i can't believe it's April 15th... i feel like i've been waiting for this day to arrive for an eternity.... i'm currently at work with my phone on as loudest it can go so i don't miss a phone call...

GeeQued... How do u know Kansas pulls people off the waitlist like that.. does that mean if someone is focused on large animal that declines they take a large animal person??? I'm on the waitlist for Kansas and really hoping i get in :xf:
 
I'm desperately crossing my fingers for a friend to get off the waitlist at Kansas. 🙂 Since the deadline is technically April 15, does that mean that calls won't start until April 16th, in order to give people until the close of business April 15th? Or what?

Who knows! I've given up trying to figure out the way adcoms and admissions offices work in an attempt to relax and just let things happen on their own time. Fretting over when we might hear isn't going to speed it up. Good luck to everyone! :luck:

I'm not sure if this helps because it is my speculations, but I am going to Kansas and they never asked me to specify LA or SA etc like some other schools do. Maybe the previous poster about this meant most similar in terms of location? Also there is a link on the Kansas website that has pictures of all the confirmed students and there are only about 80 students. Obviously some people could have confirmed in the last day or so, but that would still mean they are going to pull a decent amount of people off the waitlist. They seem to be pretty prompt and fair with their admissions process. I hope you all hear soon!
 
Bad news for Penn. They're don't need to take anybody from the wait list right now (at least not out of state) 🙁
 
Well, since I love to procrastinate, I did some number crunching for the currently occupied spots at KSU and the Quick Comparison Chart from AAVMC to guesstimate total available spots...

IS Accepted Positions: 43/48
OOS Accepted Positions: 35/54
Contract (ND) Accepted Positions: 3/8

I'm pulling for all of the KSU waitlisted. Hopefully good news will come to SDNers after the mail comes today. 🙂

It looks like last year, the first Tufts alternates heard on Friday or Saturday. I think that I'm going to go out to a museum or something, so that I don't sit around and get stomach ulcers, waiting for a phone call.

I'm obviously not sure, but I would think calls would be able to start today, whether or not they choose to do so. I know some people waited until today to officially make a decision, but I also know some people mailed back the form to decline their seat. For what it's worth, Kansas has known I'm not taking my spot there for about a week now. Hopefully the waitlists start moving soon!

Going to a movie or something sounds like a great idea...except I have so much homework due in my online classes that I have no choice but to sit here with my phone in my lap and my email and SDN constantly open! if my hair wasnt dyed nine ways to sunday you could probably see that i'm going gray from all this wait list business. Anyone know if Western wanted their final decisions arriving on or postmarked by the 15th?

According to an Alternate FAQ email I received from Western:

"As an alternate, do I need to do anything between now and August to prepare for possible acceptance?
Since you could be offered a seat between April 15th and August, it is very important that you continue to work on any outstanding admissions requirements as these must be completed prior to matriculation if you are offered a seat. This includes any outstanding prerequisites or work experience hours. If it is determined that you will not be able to meet the admissions requirements prior to matriculation, we would have to rescind our offer.

We request that applicants respond to our offer of acceptance by April 15th. If, at that time, there are seats still available, we will review the alternate pool and offer admission to the appropriate number of alternates needed to fill the class. If the class is full on April 15th, the alternate pool will remain unchanged unless someone in the class gives up their seat (which does happen)."
 
So I've been reading the forums for months now, but haven't had anything constructive to say until now.

Ohio State's list is moving. I have a message on my phone from this morning (missed it cause I was at work...). Of course, I got their answering machine when I called back. I'm alternate #5 on their waitlist.

Gah, I'm so excited. I got permission from the office manager to leave my phone on today, just this once.
