Hola fellow WesternU waitlisters. I just called Karen Hutton-Lopez to update my app/ask some questions, and she said that the class is not full yet, and she is meeting with the dean TODAY to see which alternates he'd like to choose from the pool. She said they'll start contacting people "hopefully within the next week." :luck::luck::luck::luck::xf::luck::luck::luck::luck: ps email your advisor to update your apps, i just wanted an excuse to call Karen 🙂 pps this message took me like 10 minutes to write because my cat wont stop trying to eat the keys off my keyboard.

Thanks for the update~! Do you know how to figure out which person is our advisor? also, what would you consider as an update? If I remember right, I found my advisor's contact info before some how and I emailed them an admissions question and 2.5 yrs later im still waiting.. lol.:laugh:

NEVERMIND. i found my guy.. mr. havercamp or something o other...If they are deciding today, does sending them an update really matter?

It probably doesn't matter for today's decision, but it can't hurt to do it. Maybe they'll take more than one day to decide, or maybe they won't pick us now but will look at our applications later in the summer when someone gives up their seat. At least we can be pretty sure we can relax today...but tomorrow I'm going to start staring at my phone again. Good luck!!!
 
oh sorry i didnt answer the rest of your questions 🙂 I didn't really do anything extra to update, I just have been working at the same small animal clinic for the whole application cycle so I had another 900+ hours to throw into my vet med experience. Figured it couldn't hurt to let them know! And you already found your guy but I found mine by going to prospective students, veterinary medicine, and contact us on the left side of the page. then they list your adviser by what your last name starts with.

Tine I love you for your update. Seriously...it made me so happy even though it's not an acceptance lol. I'm guessing it'll take them at least a few days to decide since they have to go through all the apps in the pool. She didn't mention how many people were confirmed for this year's class did she?

LLippy thanks for the support!! I'm really hoping to see you this fall, so I'm keeping my spirits up as much as possible. Also, I have a friend from work who's going to western that you know, so it would be double exciting for us to go together. ugh....please western, call my name! lol

I sent in my update directly to Karen so I would know it was in the right hands. I just sent a brief overview of what I'd been doing since the original application, but I got a quick response that she had added the notes to my file.
 
Tine THANK YOU so much for the update. I wonder how they will be contacting people, email since that is how Western originally contacted accepted and alternates? At least there is movement within the selection process. Good luck to everyone waiting:luck:
 
I just got a call from Purdue (IS). Just letting everyone know that the list is still moving!!! 🙂🙂🙂
 
Does anyone know if Iowa's wait list is moving at all? I'll probably end up calling them tomorrow to ask if they have started contacting people yet; not knowing is killing me! :scared:
 
Hmmm maybe I should have sent my update directly to Karen, in the past I've had a lot of trouble getting ahold of/ getting a response from my advisor. No she didn't mention how many open seats there are, I would have loved to ask but I felt like I was prying already. I think them taking a couple days is probably a good guess, since there are probably 100+ people on the wait list. That's not going to stop me from obsessing starting now though. And finally, my guess is they'll email, but since it seems that 95% of the schools are calling the waitlisters, I wouldn't be surprised if Western did too. Dunkin Donuts has 50 cent small iced coffees today. Go.

i just got a call from a 909 area code (the Western area code), almost spit out my sandwich answering it, AND IT WAS A SALES CALL. figured you guys would appreciate that.
 
Oy Tine! My stomach drops just reading that. I take it your from the Cali area code? Getting a call like that in DC I would have .. Well. Brutal :-( hopefully this is you being tested! I'm gonna need someone who at the end of a serious statement can still give good tips like Dunkin Donuts having 50 cent coffees without breaking for a breath 🙂 lol

No I'm not from Cali! My phone is a Tucson area code, and I'm living in Illinois, so needless to say when I saw 909 I was absolutely positive it was Western. I threw my phone, but gently onto my bed because I didn't want to break it in case they do call.
 
willbeavet, or anyone else, have you heard anything from ISU, I got an email about 3 wks ago saying what my up dated postion was and that they were going to start down the waitlist the week of the 20th, but that was yesterday. I can't hardly stand it any more, i keep turning my phone on making sure it is working and that i won't miss the call. :scared:

I was waitlisted last year at western....I feel your pain! So frustrating esp since they don't really give you a clear idea on how they'll pick off the waitlist. I remember calling and emailing the office at least once a month, checking the status of my app, updating on spring/summer classes I was or will be taking and asked all kinds of questions regarding the best classes to take in order to fulfill requirements. I completed a small project at work which led to a poster presentation and mailed them the updates. If you guys have ANY updates to your resume, however small they may seem, I'd recommend just sending them the updated version anyway!

I got up the nerve to call Iowa. The OOS waitlist is moving quite quickly, and Brenda said she was almost up to me (58). I think she said they were at 56 but I'm not exactly sure.

I am not 100% sure, I am really excited though. Minnesota was my first choice.
